Here is an architecture magazine about what it’s like to live in Aotearoa now. Houses, community, art and culture — in print and online.

Wonderful night at the HERE Awards on Friday, and we were honoured to have our project Gardener’s Rest receive the 2026 Reuse and Renovation Award.
Great to celebrate with our co-winner landscape designer Zoë Carafice and lovely clients Nila and Steve.
A big thank you to brilliant builder Ken Brawn and heritage consultant Lloyd Macomber.

ahha has moved!

After a fun filled 3 years at 46 Ponsonby Road, we’ve moved! Not far — just round the corner to 492A Karangahape Road! We spent the weekend shuffling furniture up a narrow stair, screwing desks together and lugging a very heavy piece of hinuera stone into our space too.

We’re so excited to settle in and welcome some friendly faces soon!

We have been in our newborn bubble for two whole weeks, in our beautiful home we have been in for a year now !
I didn’t imagine having a sweet newborn of our own in this home but baby Bon you are the best addition to our wee family! Thanks to anyone who’s messaged, checked in! All the meals and gifts and keeping us in your thoughts means so much! ☆

We have a couple of things to share from the last week or so, some milestones that are definitely worth celebrating!

Last week we had the team from ‘Here Magazine’ visit our ‘Mansfield Avenue’ Home while traveling the country judging homes for their 2026 annual Awards! So after about 6 weeks of ‘keeping it on the down-low’ we can finally announce our shortlisting
(in association with @alisaallison_ !!)
You’ll find more about the 2026 shortlist @thisishere.nz

To cap off a busy week we have launched our new website!!
This has been more than a year in the making…a tremendous amount of work by Josh Kelleher @studio_neighbour who has tirelessly worked through a full refresh by taking the time to understand what it is that I do and then tie it all up in a neat new identity.

Many thanks also to family and friends who have debated ideas and tested thoughts along the way, plus to a group of current and past clients who have spent time with me working through their story to help us build something relevant to the journey that many make when beginning the building process.

Please check us out www.cymonallfrey.com. I’d love to hear any thoughts you have….

And lastly…..you can now also finally see our Here Award Shortlisted ‘Mansfield Avenue’ Home on full display on our new site!!

It’s so gratifying to be featured in @thisishere.nz - their fresh approach to design and layout elevates the work of architects designers and photographers… in the latest issue no 38, on page 109 is featured @cheshirearchitects poetic beach house nestled amongst mature pohutekawa. It’s the last project of the legend Pip Cheshire, beautifully crafted by @brackenridge_builders - a joy and privilege to photograph 📷
