// whether the weather // you search and search to find your place. your people. your purpose. you skim your knees. but you build scar tissue. and unbeknownst to me it was going to hit me like a tidal wave august / sept of 2026. i got to meet the culmination. everything ive spent my life chipping away, building, curating, fucking up, finding lightening in a bottle… it all arrived for this moment. to be embraced, aligned, challenged, humbled… and to find a proving ground to trust my work. and myself. and for an audience to overwhelmingly respond to the dna and veinwork. brooklyn resuscitated me. the streets, the trains. they all whispered to me every day. every walk. inside those rehearsal rooms we risked, failed, fought, loved, succeeded… all of it. to witness aj and river do the fourth act for the first time. to watch mary dig deep masterfully. to watch trevor play. to see fiona shed her makeup for the first time. for the last dress rehearsal to force the entire audience of producers, designers to jolt to our feet at bows. screaming, sobbing. i lost my voice that night bc i coached this gang w/ every fucking fibre of my being. best i knew how. i put my whole soul into this. that’s why theatre matters. there’s not traceable ROI other than thee process and how it changed you. it’s anti-corporate. punk. i’d do it 100 times again. we built a team. we bet on each other. so passionately. to give life to ten characters all searching to not be alone. cost something. it has to. to be worth it. much was put on the alter. the experiment worked. the point in life isn’t to accumulate accolades. but it’s to learn as much as you can and then when it’s your turn, to pass the baton to the next generation. to inspire them in such a way that you’re forever linked. to send the elevator back down. river was 16 when they saw me direct chekhov. and almost a decade later they passed it forward to the next batch of artists. that’s the answer to the test. core memories. for the vault. what a lucky guy i am. endure. EXTINCTION. thank you brooklyn. and thank you anton. can’t wait for the next. “a thrilling rebellious piece of theatre” five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“An intense artistic collaboration…maids in crime.” Madeline Bernhard (@santas_panties ) and Hannah Hale (@hannahrosehale ) sat down with Jeff Careyva at @culturebot to talk MAIDS, blending the lines between actor/director/producer/audience, and finding their way into the blurred edges of self through Genet’s Solange and Claire. MAIDS After Genet is the first in the AF Studio Darlings series. The run has sold out, thank you to everyone who has come to support the work so far, and we can’t wait to see the rest of you for the remaining two performances! RETURNING TO @newnextfilmfest, THE WORLD’S GREATEST FILM FESTIVAL, TO PRESENT TWO NEW FILMS NEXT MONTH!!! THE DEAL is a horror film comprised entirely of clips from reality tv shows. It was made very, very slowly over the course of the year with a budget of zero dollars. The maestro @noah__horowitz gave us a collection of original reality tv songs which the wonderful @chrisosborn remixed into a wonderfully eerie soundscape. My most beautiful @bigfoot.fansite designed the beautiful titles and credits. THE DEAL screens on Friday, October 2nd at 7:10pm as part of the “Experimental Forms” block. I really hope to see you there. @stupid_pictures__ and @emilyalae were actually the first people to see anything of THE DEAL, when I was still just pulling selects. I showed them a bit during lunch on the set of SCREAMING LAUGHING. SCREAMING LAUGHING is a horror film comprised entirely of new footage, shot last May in Long Island with an absolutely incredible cast & crew. @Aldo.mov is a visionary. I feel so lucky that I could be a part of this production and work with so many wonderful people on this film. SCREAMING LAUGHING screens on Saturday, October 3rd at 11:10pm as part of the “Almost Midnight” shorts block. I think know you will be there, I’ve seen it all happen before. SCREAMING LAUGHING was written & directed by @Aldo.mov Produced by me, @manufacturedillusions and @anntonomo under the @birthday.cat aka Return 2 Monke label Edited by me & @Aldo.mov Starring @chloemargott, @thisismattstreet and @kris2dagrave Production Design by @shrewsie_ Assistant Directed by @sea_baits Original score by @Iammizu__ Cinematography by @dangerstevenb 1st Assistant Camera: @isgridddd 2nd Assistant Camera: @joneswill_jones Gaffer: @thebergmachine Key Grip: by @will_dupratt Sound Mixing & Designing by @the.flying.dusman Art Department Head: @stupid_pictures__ Costume Designer: @jasmine_acevedo1515 Key Makeup & Special FX: @makeupbyelisa37 Key Production Assistant: @emilyalae THANK YOU @ericallenhatchtaketwo AND THE ENTIRE @NEWNEXTFEST TEAM FOR CONTINUING TO CHAMPION MY WORK AND OTHER INCREDIBLE PROJECTS FROM MY FAVORITE PEOPLE IN THE WORLD! // manifesto // i found something in NY - a resuscitation. this community of like-minded renegades. a family. a haven. these artists gave me new oxygen that filled my lungs, electrified my nerve endings in lifesaving ways. we broke new ground on this. im so fucking proud of each and every member of the cast and crew. what a unified laboratory. it taught me. humbled me. inspired me. fortified me. a giant privilege. thank you to @twentysomethingsnyc for masterfully creating the perfect landscape for such passion and invention to thrive. we took massive risks. we bet on each other. and the experiment worked. anton would be thrilled. we got to the chest cavity and pounding heart of his play. deliberately and aggressively doing away w/ all things archaic and false. redefining. stripping away restoration paint to get to the initial sketch. the brutal, jagged truth. brick by brick… this was so special. honest and radical. the chekhovian DNA, ethos through and through. the charge is to follow what burns internally and to let it reduce you to a symphony of ashes. what a miraculous thing. a transcendent chapter. ____________________________ DIRTY BIRD | Brooklyn, NY | Sept 2026 ____________________________ KONSTANTIN Needs to be new. New forms. We need new forms! Something more. Better than before. In every way. To shake it up! We need to shake it up. Shock its system. To tear at its seams. Break every bone. Every set of eyes. To wake up. To improved sight. Every bit of normal needs to be blown apart. A new page by going back to old books. To what actually matters and moves you. Raw, visceral, blisters and blood. By tearing up the entire manual. To give a shit about what’s in front of us more than what’s born by wires. Alive to live. To hold a mirror up to nature. Or whatever. Where our heartbeats sync up in real time. In the darkness of the same room. At the same moment. A cathedral of strangers. Becoming one entity. The electricity of the unknown. We need it. A cultural IV. And if we can‘t, if we let it happen, if we let it go away in exchange for something utterly soulless... then fuck it. Rather nothing. photos by @joey_damore

I love this play. I love these people. I love masha. I’ve been talking it into the ground, and so what? cause I’m a woman? cause it’s too early? eager and excited to have an audience in our space tomorrow for the first time, to give an offering. I learn so much from every single person in this ensemble every single day, every single rehearsal, and I am a better actor because of it, them, him, whatever! new forms, I’ll die without you, and here’s to hoping I do not forget what to do with my hands.
