Part 1 of 4 of the Grattan street series. In a single, unbroken one take - Alex calls his ex after a year of no contact, and leaves her a voice memo. “Nowhere in the World” starring Matt Street @thisismattstreet

For context about this collection of films: Exactly one year ago I went through a devastating breakup. The period that followed was an intense searching. For a way to numb myself, to distract. Made so much creative/film work to figure out what was going inside of my head because it didn’t feel like I could say what I wanted to say to the person I’d really wanted to talk to. Ultimately, culminating in a really sobering phone call I’d made to my ex in January. Ripped me to shreds but I absolutely needed it. I wanted to capture that feeling of pouring your heart out to someone and essentially putting your self respect aside to just say exactly how you feel and the other person brushing it aside. The process of shooting this was so incredibly intimate. A small crew of my friends, some old, some new - helping me craft and visualize this thing that happened to me in real life onto the screen. No cuts, no soundtrack or score. Just a guy with a phone, the words, and the love you have for someone who doesn’t want it anymore. The other three films will be released over the course of the next few weeks/months that are all aligned with the tone of this piece and has a thread throughout. taken in New York City, NY by @thisismattstreet

Join us this April 16, 17 & 18th at ADULT FILM: THE FIRST FOUR YEARS, a photo gallery event celebrating the work of Adult Film from 2022 - 2026.

Marcus Maddox @marcus.xoxo Joey Damore @joey_damore and Matt Street @thisismattstreet have collectively taken hundred of photos of rehearsals, parties, performances, and everything in between. They’ve captured a post COVID boom of working class artists who, after the lockdown order was lifted, exploded out into living rooms, lofts, backyards, and myriads of other non traditional found spaces to put on a play.

We invite you to join us in a celebration of where we began as we look backwards to look forwards.

The gallery will open April 16th, with light refreshments and a Q&A with the artists moderated by Artistic Director Ryan Czerwonko. The 17th will feature a collection of readings from ADULT FILM company members, and the 18th we’ll have live music from three artists who’ve composed scores for us across our theatrical history.

The space will be open from 7-10 each night. Opening night is FREE with an RSVP, and Friday and Saturday will be ticketed. Space is limited, so grab your spot while you can at the link in our bio! by @thisismattstreet

ADULT FILM in collaboration with @unitjbushwick PRESENTS — OTHER PEOPLE’S LIVES
APRIL 10-27th — TICKETS AT LINK IN BIO

Step into a world of human connection and desire with Other People’s Lives, a provocative night of one-act plays from some of New York’s most compelling screenwriters.

YOU MADE ME FEEL by @kitakemushrooms - At a bar somewhere in Brooklyn, a woman has arranged two conversations with two different men. Over the course of the evening she interrogates, succumbs to, and defends herself against the men, digging into the desire that has compelled her to lurch for them, and for a life of wanting ecstatically, at any cost.
Directed by @michellecmoriarty
with @stepheebonifacio @austincassel and @thisismattstreet

GOOD TO YOU by @aprilconsalo - When Nico’s rockstar ex-girlfriend calls looking for a place to crash after a show, the two spend the night drinking and getting high. Tensions build as they discuss the past, until they’re forced to confront the disparities and desires that destroyed them.
Directed by @justlikechia
with @aprilconsalo @katrinnuge and @stepheebonifacio

MOVING DAVE by @theodorecollatos - Returning home from a long trip, Teddy finds his apartment in chaos—his roommate Dave is strung out with Kristine a woman he picked up in the park, and two strangers, Mike and Sam, have moved in. Forced to band together, the unlikely housemates face an uncertain future beyond their shared home.
Directed by @theodorecollatos
with @thisismattstreet @rrichcarrilloo @eggaroo @aridalbert, Myles Brewer, @austincassel and @stepheebonifacio
