'My name is Marvin': One night in July 2020, I performed at the former Barbès Comedy Club at The New York Comedy Night. I am wearing a mask and face guard because we were just coming back from lockdown and we were still required to wear masks. I looked like Bane from Batman.

Because of this bit, I was teased mercilessly by several of the other comics calling me "Melvin" lol.

My appearance on The New York Comedy Night, at Café Oscar on December 7, 2017 was the first time I had ever been booked on a comedy show. Much obliged to the show's organizer and host Sebastian Marx.

I would go on to create The Marvin Parks Show in 2018, which was the first time an English comedy night included a live jazz trio.

Mount Yōtei is a perfect shaped volcano sticking 6000+ feet into the air on the north island of Japan, Hokkaido, and the site of one of my most cherished days in the mountains. Pre-dawn start, first on planet earth to witness the rising sun in the land of the rising sun, in and out of blizzards as we ascended, stopping to hike laps and shoot any features that inspired the group. Storm blew in and we got within a couple hundred vertical feet of the 6,227 ft. summit. I’ll be returning to Japan this winter and although it’s never a contest, this day will be hard to beat. Thanks to Danny, Daisuke, Tanner, and Zach for being a part of it.

We spend a lot of time with our amazing friends @catskillwagyu, and today, we brought another amazing friend along to visit their farm. We took a stroll up to the top of the hill on their property, where the sun was shining brightly, and the warm weather made everything feel even more beautiful.

L’Eroica is an annual celebration of cycling that takes place on the famed “Strade Bianche” or “White Roads” through the Tuscany region of Italy. Sean and I took a wack at the “L’Eroica Lungo”or long route of 209 kilometers.
5 rules for the event:
1. No bikes newer than 1984.
2. Wool cycling kits are the uniform.
3. This is not a race, it’s a celebration.
4. Stop and eat Ribollita
5. Stop and drink Chianti
The route is divided into several checkpoints in each town along the way. The entire local population comes out and serves the thousands of riders local delicacies including Ribollita, a Tuscan bread soup, and Chianti, the local wine. In all honesty, we grossly underestimated the course. How tough could 130 miles of gravel on steel rental bikes be? After 12 hours we arrived at what we thought was the second to last checkpoint, only to discover that in all the excitement of bombing gravel roads on bikes with brakes as old as me, we missed a turn cutting the 130 mile course into a final count of only 84. By that point it was too late in the day to backtrack and if you’re gonna get lost, do it in Tuscany. Overall a great experience, a little more music festival than mom and pop for my personal taste, but if you’re a cyclist this one is definitely worth checking out. Thank you to our local Nonna and Chef who found out we were the only ones actually camping in a tent and warmed us with every iteration of homemade truffle table fare. Sean gets MVP for smoking one cig at the top of each climb. Team “Built Ford Tough” will return, not soon, but one day.
