This year at Notting Hill Carnival, I was REALLY tested! ❤️‍🔥
One of my biggest highlights was being surrounded by incredible floats and meeting some amazing ladies! 🙌🏾🔥🔥
But I also experienced huge disappointment at @rampagesound. I missed @djagonline and @seanibremix perform, and I was devastated when @thisisredtower advised me to leave early because of safety concerns. I almost cried!!!
Honestly, it made me feel like I no longer belong at Carnival. 💔 I felt like I belonged in residential care!
But I don’t want to give up. I want to contribute.
I’d love to meet with @nhcarnivalldn to discuss how we can make Carnival more inclusive and accessible for disabled people.
I’ve supported Black music and culture for over 25 years, and as a motivational journalist/activist, I want to continue contributing to this incredible celebration of Black culture.
Disabled people also deserve to feel that Carnival belongs to us too. ❤️💚💛

Did you know that our Kids Amateur classes are coached by former World Champion, the famous Albanian professional boxer, Kreshniq Qato, nicknamed “The Eagle”.

He was the first Albanian professional boxer to win a world title, capturing the WBF World Middleweight Championship in 2008!

If you want your kids to acquire discipline, confidence, fitness and boxing skills by a former world champion, look no further.

Classes: Monday-Wednesday-Friday - 4-5pm Junior Amateur Boxing and 5-6pm Junior Box Camp ages 6-17.

The @thisisredtower event management team 🙌

I look forward to working on Carnival every year — not just because Rampage are 🔥, but because these two make it easier as the years go by. They pick up more each time, grow into leaders and fire on all cylinders.

We do enjoy a shindig every now and then. And although they're much younger than me, the respect, loyalty and commitment they bring is undeniable.

At Red Tower it's about learning (never stop learning), continuously developing new processes, refining, staying solution-focused and executing.

Everything I've been through — and it's tough out there — everything I still go through, I share with them. I don't want them running the same long game in events, music or business that I had to.

I've got a lot to say about that… maybe after Carnival 🤣

Today I had a really empowering meeting with Gina, one of Brixton’s club managers. She beautifully reminded me that in life, I won’t always get everything I want and sometimes accepting that is part of making independent decisions.
We concluded that Brixton Storeys is ultimately too risky for me to attend because of the three flights of stairs. Although I’m disappointed, I completely respect the decision and will always continue supporting 30s and Over. I genuinely hope this event continues to grow from strength to strength! To be honest, I believe @silkshutdown and @djvolatile have the potential to take this event internationally—even to Ayia Napa!
There is something about 30s and Over that feels different from other old skool raves. It has a completely different energy!
Meeting Gina was also a true reflection of my independence. I strongly believe disabled people should be empowered to make decisions about our own lives, even when those decisions may not always perfectly align with health and safety guidelines.
That doesn't mean ignoring safety. It means being listened to, understanding the risks, working with others and being trusted to make informed decisions about ourselves.
As Gina demonstrated today, independence is about having that conversation and finding a way forward together. ❤️
Let's work with our music venues to make nightlife more accessible for everyone. ♿️🎶
@bell_ribeiroaddy I'd love to work with you on making Brixton nightclubs more accessible.
