(READ THE CAPTIONS & SWIPE!!!) Me & my stale ass ombré from 2016 want you to come check out the @torontoyouthpoetryslam Spoken Word Festival on July 26 or donate to help support more youth in their creative expression, just like I was. These are some photos of my time with TYPS throughout the years.

TYPS (formerly BAM!) is where my love for spoken word grew from this thing I’d do in my room on my Blackberry to something with community, I could travel for and of course, grow with and through my writing. It’s always been about the poetry, but it’s also not. I’ve found lifelong friends and grown as a person and working artist. These throwbacks are just a fraction of some of the good times I’ve had with this community and I want nothing more than for this to continue. I’ve learned so much, and the education continues with events like these and for the next generation of poets who will get $50 tattoos in Vegas at slam competitions and write some of the poetry that will give them a reason as why we all are here like it did for me yes thank you please keep going

Performing at the May Cafe in 2017 (stale ass ombré seen here) that bleach was kicking my ass Lol at least my poems were good

Toronto Poetry Slam Finals, 2017

What to expect for the festival on Sunday!!

The $50 tattoo I got in Vegas while at the Brave New Voices Poetry Compeition in 2019. I had just left my full-time job in advertising to pursue poetry

Glam before da slam

If you ever see ppl rehearsing stuff in random corridors or library parking lots they’re probably poets like we are here

Did I convince you yet???

“Leave your job” Patrick said. Pictured at the Palmerston Library, 2018

Brave New Voices youth poetry competition hosted jn Vegas in 2019

Patrick had this cool idea of bringing poetry into historical sites around the city as a way to reclaim and situate our stories within them, 2018

Got to reach some of my first workshops with TYPS - this is back in 2015!!!

The TYPS crew I came up with in rehearsal looking like the hottest boyband discovered by LA Reid
