Rally to Protect Children's Health Over Big Oil ⚖️🔥

Suncor and ExxonMobil are asking the U.S. Supreme Court to strip state and local governments of the power to hold fossil fuel companies accountable for climate harm, after Boulder County and the City of Boulder sued both companies for allegedly deceiving the public about fossil fuels' climate impacts for decades.

Now Boulder youth are fighting back. A recently filed amicus brief shares their own stories of how uniquely vulnerable kids are to fossil fuels and climate harm, arguing states have always had the duty to protect their citizens from fossil fuels, especially children.

Read our press release on the amicus brief: bit.ly/suncoramicus-pr

Join us, the Center for Climate Integrity, and Fossil Free Media in support of state and local governments’ power to protect young people from the dangers of climate change and fossil fuels, and young people’s right to a safe, healthy future 📣

Big Oil wants out of accountability. We’re showing up to say no.

On Monday, October 5, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear Suncor Energy and ExxonMobil’s bid to stop Boulder’s climate accountability lawsuit from going to trial. The companies are asking the Court to dismiss the case, arguing that states and local governments have no independent authority to hold fossil fuel companies accountable for climate harm.

Our Children’s Trust, alongside eight young people from Boulder and a national pediatric climate health expert, filed an amicus brief urging the Court to protect the authority and duty of states and local governments to protect their communities, especially children, from fossil fuels and climate harm in state courts. This power is especially important as climate protections are being eliminated and more fossil fuels unleashed.

Our Children’s Trust will be at the Supreme Court alongside youth from Boulder and our partners at the Center for Climate Integrity and Fossil Free Media Join us in showing up for climate accountability for our communities, children, and future generations!

📍 Rally outside the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington, D.C.

French oil giant TotalEnergies has agreed to abandon two offshore wind projects in the US and says the recovered money will be reinvested in LNG, oil and gas. The US Department of the Interior says $928 million will be redirected into these projects.
That is not a transition. It is a fossil fuel choice.
In France, households, towns, schools, hospitals and public services are already paying the cost of climate breakdown. TotalEnergies should pay its share.
Click the link in our bio to email French MPs on the Finance Committee and demand a lasting tax on TotalEnergies’ superprofits.

Dear friends, family & our community,

We've been honored to carry the banner of Youth Climate Strike Los Angeles for the past 7 years. We've accomplished so much! From leading the largest climate mobilizations in SoCal to helping get the highest youth voter turnout in LA history, supporting in passing setbacks for oil drilling, developing the next generation of climate justice leaders, and building a coalition of frontline and impacted communities from the immigration to the labor sector to and challenging the status quo that working people do not care about the climate crisis.

And we still have so much more to do.

Yes, we've grown. We're entering a new era, a new time that calls on us to step into a new version of ourselves. The time is now. If we don't respond to the moment, the reality is all is truly lost.

So you're invited to celebrate our relaunch & fundraiser and our relaunch as Youth Climate Stewards for Local Action. link in Bio 🔗

We’re here on the ground in Santa Marta, Colombia, for the First International Conference on Transitioning Away From Fossil Fuels. We’re joining with youth, indigenous peoples, and civil society of the global south to demand an end to U.S. imperialism and extractivism, and a binding mechanism for a fossil fuel non-proliferation treaty.

Follow along for more updates.

Offshore oil and gas is turning up the heat in Santa Marta (no seriously, it’s hot out here!) ☀️🥵

Offshore is the missing piece of the fossil fuel transition. And without it the transition is incomplete. We cannot let oil and gas companies try to be sneaky and try to move their activities out of sight and into our ocean! ❌🛢️➡️🌊

We must continue the call for climate justice, with frontline communities at the core! We will be sharing more info soon as to how we can all fight offshore expansion! ✊🌎🌍🌏
