Photographer Luke Davis’ DOCUMENTARY PHOTOGRAPHY project seeks to capture the heart, soul and personality of those who live in small town America.

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

One day, this won’t be today anymore.

The horse.
The bare feet.
The summer breeze.
The way it felt to be exactly this age, with this horse, in this season.

That’s why photographs matter.

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐲 𝐆𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐞.

Back in 2019, I spent an afternoon in her living room while she worked on what she believed might be the last quilt she would ever make.

She had already made nineteen quilts over the years… each one for someone she loved.

Sometimes the most meaningful stories aren’t the big events in life.

They’re the quiet moments happening somewhere in between.

I’ve started sharing more stories like this over on my other page @thisunposedlife , where I focus on documentary-style photography and capturing real moments as they happen.

And now I get to help families document moments likethis in their own lives too.

Every year, around the Fourth of July, the Schwerin and Smith families get out to pasture to collect their hay bales. It’s a project for the entire family.

Paden (6) understands why it is important as he explains, “We need to bale the hay to feed the cows. We need to get all the hay for the winter.”

While their parents work, Paden (6) and his brother Paxton (3) take a break to chase each other back and forth high up on a row of hay bales despite the hot summer heat.

PHOTO SHOOT IDEA | Before they retire
Most people only think to hire a professional photographer for posed family photos. But isn’t there so much more to life... I mean real life moments that you want to remember forever.
Do a photo shoot for your dad, mom, husband or wife, at their job before they retire. They spent so much of their life working so hard. I promise you, getting photos of them doing what they do at work will be photos you’ll treasure forever.

In this photo Jerry Price cuts his grandson’s hair on the very last day before he retired. Just a couple years later Jerry passed away. I’m so glad I captured these photos.
