july ends & august begins & everything that turned this month turned at once, on the same tide:a love closing, a matriarch’s passing, a self i’d set down somewhere long ago &all of it moving together the way water moves, without asking permission. july came in like relentless rain & washed out a tie i could never have expected /it undid me & rebuilt me through the oldest medicine there is:community, food passed hand to hand across a table, open hearts, women who know what i need before the need has finished forming. i met myself. i am going to care for her. everyone i love keeps telling me it’s good to see my spark back & the truth is it came back through the grief because we cannot heal what we hide, cannot soothe ourselves with the sheer force of how hard we work;the soul only ever aches for one thing & it is community, it is each other. grateful on this 1st morning of a new month for the oldest truth there is:that nothing is lost: it only turns/death into soil, soil into green, endings into the strange fertile hush where the next thing begins.

one year since we closed on our home! 🏠❤️

this year has been such a ride and this house has been so much work (like last summer when we all had covid, our fridge broke, i had a fever so i took a bath and then the pipe cracked and flooded the basement so we had no fridge and no shower for a week) (or in winter when it was 7 degrees and our furnace broke twice in 3 days AND we lost power to half the house bc of a broken light fixture)

BUT the gardens are blooming, the birds are chirping and our berry bushes are getting nice n big to feed lots of berries to our lil tater on the way ❤️ so grateful for this life we have worked soooooo hard for!!!!! can’t wait to see what life looks like a year from now!!!!!!

i love you @thomasdafonte, my mr fix it, mr build it, mr flip it and my mr it works good enough for now 😘

I didn’t just like that sandwich… I loved it. All of those local ingredients packed into one sandwich is next level flavor.

@finestavl comes through every single time.
