WAHOOOOO! 🎬✨

We’re beyond excited to announce that Wee Willie Winkie is an OFFICIAL SELECTION of the Gilbert Baker Film Festival!

Get ready for a deliciously dark, wildly funny descent into family chaos.

As the Los Angeles Blade called it:
“a twisted, über-funny unraveling of family drama, sibling dysfunction, and obviously unresolved grief.”

Huge congratulations to our incredible cast and crew for helping bring this beautifully unhinged story to life. 💖

A standalone short film + proof of concept written & directed by Jena Serbu & Mark A. Dahl.

Official Selection - Gilbert Baker Film Festival
Official Jury Selection - CinePride Film Festival
Winner - Best Supporting Performace - CinePride Film Festival

Goodness my friend Teresa found this! My comment to her on Facebook:

OMG!!!!!! You just blew my mind. One thing I remember about you was such care as a Director. And at some point, opening night or closing - can’t recall…you gave me a card and it said “Thanks for always giving 110%.” You fueled me when many adults were naysaying. I left for Interlochen a few months later and I took that confidence you gave me with me. And I really needed it because I was intimidated to go to Interlochen. But then I thrived! Thanks for being awesome to a gay teenaged boy in the 90s.

These moments capture the artistry, humor, and collaboration that defined the shoot — from spontaneous creative sparks to the meticulous craft behind each frame. What began as a sharp, subversive short film evolved into a production filled with heart, precision, and a cast that brought every eccentric beat to life.

Starring Jay “Laganja Estranja” Jackson, Erika Schiff, and Teresa Thome, the film continues to draw attention for its wit, design, and unforgettable performances.

💋 Meet “The Mother”
Sunbathing in a bikini, sipping a Piña Colada, and dodging family truths — The Mother is equal parts fabulous, ferocious, and unapologetically chaotic. Once a glamorous East Coast matriarch, she now rules her backyard kingdom with sarcasm and a spray bottle.

Sharp-tongued, emotionally elusive, and always one drink ahead, she’s the woman who can turn tragedy into a toast and secrets into punchlines. Somewhere between the blender and the heartbreak lies her truth — and she’s not about to tell it unless there’s rum involved. 🍹
