Congratulations to all the nominees at the year’s GRAMMY Awards. I hope that everyone has a fabulous time, celebrating the power of music. Songs can move us, motivate us, and give us newfound strength. They can also bring joy, peace, and understanding. Here is to celebrating creativity and the inspiration that it ignites in so many lives.

This is a photo of me backstage at the GRAMMY Awards in January of 2020 just a few minutes after I won the Best Roots Gospel Album GRAMMY Award for my 2019 album, “TESTIMONY.”

I co-wrote and recorded this album in Nashville, Tennessee with an amazing team of creative collaborators. Seeing and hearing this album come to life was the fulfillment of a long standing dream.

Here is to celebrating so many people’s dreams on music’s biggest night!

It has been wonderful to be part of the 48th class of Kennedy Center Honorees.

“Tonight I stand here, proudly. Grateful to be counted among the extraordinary creative artists who share this honor tonight. And those whose footsteps paved the way. So I accept this honor in the spirit of resilience. In the spirit of healing. And above all; in the spirit of survival. Survival of love, of hope, and a deep respect for one another’s humanity.”
