Continuation of the ongoing collaboration between Tenement House and @threading_stories_collective

Every room of the Tenement House has its own tapestry with an outline of the room and motifs from the room embroidered on it. All that's left to do now is attaching the patches and finishing of the backings.

Continuation of the @threading_stories_collective and The Tenement House collaboration.

In this stage of the project members of our group and also participants of a few workshops Julita and Alejandra ran for members of the public got to create small textile replicas of their favourites from miss Towards's collections. Every single piece sewn is so special as everyone worked very hard, even if it was their first time ever trying their hand at embroidery.

The Tenement House is a place where care is very apparent, care for the collections and the history they carry. And then there is the great care and joy that these teeny tiny embroideries were made with.

This ongoing collaboration is very special, and I would recommend to everyone to visit The Tenement House and keep their eyes peeled on what's next to come on this journey.

Hiya,

Here are some photos from the very beginning of the collaboration between @threading_stories_collective and The Tenement House.

I'm so new to making reels, I don't even know how to add subtitles, but I'll learn, I swear.

We had the chance to explore the in-house spaces as well as some archival materials from miss Toward's collection and as Threading Stories is a migrant creative collective that very often works with textiles, I started to develop a few embroidery samples of where our collaboration could go.

The first sample is a replica of my grandmother's room with her favourite armchair, and the second is a tea pot from my own collections.

This collaboration is still ongoing. Stay tuned to see where we are headed!

My contribution to a wonderful fibre based exhibition by Threading Stories Collective. You can still see Threading Colours: When Colour Became Connection at CassArt, Glasgow until 14th of February. There are some really intelligent, sophisticated and moving works on show and a wonderful display of skill.

Small Garden Moment 🌱

Hand embroidery, water colour (24x24 cm)

This piece is a hand-embroidered artwork featuring two playful mice standing in a small garden beneath a large pink flower. Delicate line stitching is combined with textured embroidery to create a soft, whimsical scene inspired by nature and curiosity.

This artwork is displayed at Cass Art Glasgow till 14th February 2026.

Some of you might have seen the reel with my poor performance and strange captions - I officially confirm I have not changed my name to Richard and have no intention to do so😂 And I hope the strange captions and my poor early morning performance made you more curious about our work. I can also confirm that the works on the show are fantastic and a tribute to the power of diversity and variety 😁 #attexhibition #artexhibitionsglasgow @cassart1984

It has been a pleasure looking back at some highlights from this year’s programme taken by the accomplished photographer Alan Dimmick (@alandimmick) who opened up his archive for the public as part of the festival. Stay tuned as there are more highlights to come!
