Community Speaks Day is here, and the conversation continues with two incredible voices:

Melissa Andrade, M.A., CCC-SLP @melissa.kimberly6

They will help us explore communication, sensory needs, behavior supports, caregiver understanding, and what children and families truly need beyond the classroom.

The room is warming up.
The speakers are ready.
The community is showing up.

We’ll see you today at 1:00 PM!

Our room opens at 12:45 PM🥳

❓Did you know. The answers you seek about your body are often in the right room? 🤔

Feeling off, tired, or overwhelmed? You’re not alone. At the Delaware Black Chamber of Commerce Minority Health Summit a woman said, “I thought it was just me.” That’s why these spaces matter!

I’m thrilled to be a guest panelist at the Caribbean Women’s Health & Wellness Conference on May 9th!
🌸Join us for real conversations about hormones, menopause, and reconnecting with our bodies.

If you can be in the room, be there! Remember, energy, balance, and confidence are your birthright. 🌻

On screen, but this is bigger than me.

Grateful to have Kizzy Blackwell in this moment — a BCBA and advisory board member who shows up in the work and when it matters most — and to share this space on CW’s, PHL17 Positively Philly, helping bring visibility to what we’re building.

This is what community looks like.

As we prepare for Autism Acceptance Month, we’re taking a moment to look back before the titles, before the credentials, before the impact…

back to the girl who would grow up to change lives 🤍

Today we’re highlighting our program and education team member, Kizzy Blackwell, BCBA — Director of Thrive Behavioral Services.

The same heart she carries into her work today started early — a heart rooted in care, patience, and a deep desire to understand others.

Kizzy reminds us that behavior isn’t something to “fix” — it’s something to listen to.

Through her work, she helps families slow down, look closer, and truly see their children — advocating for support that is grounded in dignity, compassion, and trust.

Because every child deserves to be understood, not just managed.

And sometimes, the most powerful advocates…
are the ones who never stopped leading with love.

Community Speaks Day: March 22nd Recap 🎥

For those just discovering Delaware Sensory Museum — Community Speaks Day is our quarterly program designed to bring families, educators, clinicians, and community members together to connect, learn, and experience sensory-inclusive environments in real time.

This experience included:
– A live panel featuring clinicians, advocates, and a parent perspective
– A community Q&A creating space for honest conversation and shared learning
– Hands-on sensory rooms, including our, arts and tech lab, calm cafe, tactile room and the Coby O Obstacle Course focused on motor skill development
– Opportunities for families to explore, engage, and connect with one another

What made this day special wasn’t just the structure — it was the feeling in the room.

Children moving freely.
Families feeling supported.
Community showing up for one another.

This is what it looks like to build spaces where every child belongs and every family is considered.

Thank you to our speakers, volunteers, sponsors, donors, partners and community for making this day possible.

Take a look inside our tactile room, thoughtfully simulated for Community Speaks Day and led by Ms. Kizzy.

This space was designed to support sensory exploration through touch, texture, and hands-on engagement — creating a safe and intentional environment for children to interact, regulate, and discover.

Under Ms. Kizzy’s guidance, families were able to experience how tactile-based activities can support development, comfort, and connection.

Moments like these show just how powerful sensory-informed spaces can be.

Gratitude is an understatement.

Thank you to our incredible volunteers, our dedicated program and education team, our featured guest speakers, community partners, committed board members, our generous sponsors, and our entire community for making our quarterly Community Speaks program a true success.

Because of each of you, we were able to create a space where families felt seen, children felt supported, and meaningful connections were made.

It takes a village to do this work — and we are grateful for ours.
