Registration is open for our Empower Play Field Day — and we’re inviting families to get their children signed up for a day designed with them in mind.

This isn’t just play — it’s intentional, supported, and inclusive.

Our play clinics will be led by:
• PEAA
• Butterfly Effect Studio for Training
• Thrive Behavioral Services

With engagement support from our Program & Education Team, along with volunteers from our corporate and university partners, each child will be met with guidance, encouragement, and care throughout the experience.

This is about creating space for movement, confidence, and connection — in an environment built to support all abilities.

Take a look inside our tactile room, thoughtfully simulated for Community Speaks Day and led by Ms. Kizzy.

This space was designed to support sensory exploration through touch, texture, and hands-on engagement — creating a safe and intentional environment for children to interact, regulate, and discover.

Under Ms. Kizzy’s guidance, families were able to experience how tactile-based activities can support development, comfort, and connection.

Moments like these show just how powerful sensory-informed spaces can be.

Meet Kizzy Blackwell, BCBA
Founder, Thrive Behavioral Services

Kizzy Blackwell is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and the Founder of Thrive Behavioral Services. Her work centers on a powerful but simple mission: building meaningful partnerships between educators, families, and students so every child has the support, tools, and confidence they need to succeed.

With more than 19 years of experience in special education and educational leadership, Kizzy has dedicated her career to teaching, mentoring, and empowering students, families, and professionals to reach their full potential. Her expertise includes behavior support, classroom strategy, and data-informed approaches that help children thrive in both school and home environments.

Kizzy believes that every partnership matters and every voice counts—and that when families, educators, and communities work together, every child has the opportunity to truly thrive.

What to Expect from Kizzy’s Session

During this conversation, Kizzy will share insight into how behavioral strategies and collaborative partnerships can help children succeed both in and out of the classroom. Behavior Is Communication

When a child acts out, they’re communicating something they can’t yet say.
⭐️Behavior gives us information.
⭐️If we listen to it, we can teach skills instead of escalating.

Before we correct a behavior, we have to understand it.
Tantrums, shutdowns, aggression, avoidance — these are not “bad behavior.”

They are signals. When we pause and ask what is this behavior trying to communicate?, we shift from punishment to teaching.

Instead of escalating, we can:

Identify the unmet need

Teach replacement skills

Support emotional regulation

Create environments that reduce overwhelm

When adults respond with curiosity instead of frustration, children gain the tools they need to thrive.

Your child deserves support that sees behavior as information — not defiance.
