God literally gave me the name of my business in a dream.
 No, seriously.
I woke up the next morning, bought the domain, and created the Instagram account for @thriveindesign.
I didn’t have every detail figured out. I didn’t know exactly what it would become. But I knew I needed to move on what God had placed on my heart.
And that has been a recurring theme throughout my entrepreneurial journey. The business idea? God.
The name? God.
The podcast? God.
And what amazes me is that He doesn’t just give me ideas. He continues to provide the tools, resources, relationships, and opportunities to bring them to life.
My podcast is one of my favorite examples of this.
What started as an idea has become one of the biggest catalysts for growth in my business. It’s connected me with incredible people, opened doors I never could have planned for, and created opportunities I didn’t even know to pursue.
Now, that doesn’t mean I just sit around waiting for things to happen.
I still have to do the work.
I have to make the calls, send the emails, build the relationships, and actually execute the ideas.
But I’m learning that faith and strategy aren’t competing forces.
I can pray AND plan.
Trust God AND take action.
Have big ambitions AND surrender the outcome.
And I don’t have to know every step of the journey before taking the next one.
When I look back at how this business started and how it continues to grow, I see God’s hand in so much of it.
My faith isn’t separate from my business. It’s the foundation of everything I’m building. 🤎
Have you ever felt God place an idea on your heart that you couldn’t ignore? I’d love to hear about it. 👇🏾

The footage is from NeoCon in 2025 (yes, I was pregnant 😂), but the vision I’m working on right now is all about 2027.
And I have to say… I’m REALLY excited about what’s coming.
Right now, I’m in a season of building things that aren’t quite ready to be announced. 🎙️ The next chapter of my podcast.
✨ A summit that’s been on my heart.
📋 A bigger vision for my business in 2027.
🤝 Intentional relationships, conversations, and collaborations.
And while I love a good launch and a big announcement, I’ve learned that the real work happens long before anyone sees the finished product.
It’s the strategy sessions. The emails. The follow-ups. The ideas that get rewritten five times. The conversations that open doors you didn’t even know existed.
It’s also the discernment to recognize that just because I can build something doesn’t mean I’m supposed to.
That’s probably been one of my biggest lessons in entrepreneurship.
I’m not interested in building more just for the sake of doing more.
I want to build things that matter. Things that serve people well. Things that align with my purpose and the life I’m intentionally designing.
And sometimes that means slowing down long enough to make sure I’m building the right things.
So while there’s plenty I can’t share just yet, I wanted to bring you into the process.
Because I don’t want to only show you the announcements and accomplishments.
I want you to see what building it actually looks like.
2027 is already in motion. And I’m excited about where God is leading me. 🤎
Are you already thinking about what you want to build or change in 2027?

Season 10 of the Thrive In Design Podcast is here! 🎙️ As we head into the final quarter of 2026, I've been thinking a lot about growth. And one thing I keep coming back to is how often we try to solve business challenges by adding more. More marketing. More salespeople. More technology. More AI. But what happens when the real issue isn't what we're missing, but how everything is working together? That's where I wanted to begin Season 10. In this first episode, I'm talking about something I've seen throughout my experience working with interior product manufacturers: marketing, sales, and the specification experience are often treated as separate conversations. But from the moment a designer discovers your brand to the moment your product is installed, every interaction is connected. And when those touchpoints aren't aligned, investing in more activity may not solve the underlying problem. Before we decide what to add, we need to understand where the friction exists. That's why I'm asking a different question as we prepare for 2027: Where is the friction in the journey that's costing us growth? Throughout this Q4 mini-season, I'll be sharing more about what we're learning from working with product brands, what I'm hearing across the industry, and what we can do with those insights. Because I believe growth starts with understanding what's actually holding the business back. 🎧 My first episode of Season 10, "Why Marketing, Sales, and AI Won't Fix a Broken Specification Journey," is available now. I'd love for you to listen and share what you're seeing in your own business. #ThriveInDesignPodcast #InteriorProductBrands #InteriorDesignIndustry

I share the timeline of my life as a full-time entrepreneur, starting with my first business NeoTress in 2017, becoming a single mother, and closing it down. I then launched Nicole LaShae Consulting LLC in 2019, focusing on millennial mompreneurs of color with the Become Mompreneur Launch Summit, which served 700 women across three countries. I learned that my audience couldn’t afford my offers due to underfunding, leading to a pivot and rebrand to Thrive in Design. I invite viewers to follow for the next part of my story.

"We need to do more marketing." Actually… you probably don't. 🛑 I hear it all the time from interior product companies: do more marketing, more trade shows, more emails, more posts. What most brands actually need is more CLARITY. I've worked with brands exhibiting at NeoCon, BDNY, and HD Vegas — beautiful photography, active on social, amazing products. But look closer and their website told one story, their reps told another, and designers couldn't answer the simplest question: why specify THIS brand over a similar one? That's not a marketing problem. It's a positioning and messaging problem. Because marketing only amplifies what's already there — if your story isn't clear, more marketing just amplifies the confusion. So where do you land: more marketing, or better positioning and a clearer story? I'm curious 👇 #ThriveInDesign #BrandStrategy #InteriorProducts #Positioning #AandD #GoToMarket #HospitalityDesign #Specification #DesignIndustry

Hot take: Your sales reps probably do not need to make more sales calls. They need more capacity to make every interaction count. When companies focus only on call volume, reps work longer hours, follow-up becomes rushed, and the quality of the client experience begins to suffer. In the interior design industry, relationship-based selling requires more than getting someone on the phone. Reps are preparing for meetings, tracking samples, remembering project details, personalizing presentations, coordinating internally, and nurturing relationships that may take months—or years—to turn into specifications. That is why I believe AI tools and better systems should support the rep, not replace them. The right systems can reduce administrative work, organize account insights, improve meeting preparation, and make personalized follow-up easier. That gives reps more time to do what technology cannot: listen, advise, build trust, and serve clients well. Quality over quantity will not apply in every situation—but more activity is not always the answer. What drives better results: more sales calls or more meaningful sales conversations?

Interior product brands do not need more content for the sake of content. They need clearer positioning. Stronger stories. Better alignment between sales and marketing. And practical ways to turn visibility into specification growth. That is what we talk about here. You can expect content around: — A&D growth strategy — Specification and positioning — Sales and marketing alignment — Storytelling as a sales tool — Rep enablement — Trade-show strategy — Practical AI for small teams — Founder leadership and sustainable growth You will also see the real side of building Thrive In Design: what I am testing, what is working, what I am still learning, and what I refuse to automate. My goal is not to give you more ideas to save and forget. It is to help you see your business differently—and move from insight into action. Follow if you lead, market, or sell for an interior product brand and want a smarter path to growth. Save this post as your guide to what you can expect here.

🤖 This Wednesday, I’m honored to be the keynote speaker for this year’s AI in Design Summit on May 20, with a presentation on Relevance, Innovation & Evolution in the AI Era. We’re in a moment where AI is rapidly reshaping our industry, but staying relevant isn’t about chasing shiny carrots or new tech. It’s about how we evolve, lead, and adapt with intention. This summit is built specifically for A&D manufacturers, sales teams, and creative leaders shaping what’s next. There are 13 speakers across a one-day virtual event, so if you’re leading a brand, agency, or studio in this space, I’d love to see you there. Registration is now open here >> https://tidsummit.com/ enter SAURIT10 at checkout for 10% off your ticket (and yes...there’s a replay option!) 📆 Keynote | 9:20am – 10:20am EST Relevance, Innovation & Evolution in the AI Era Artificial intelligence is not simply a new tool, it’s reshaping how brands are discovered, evaluated, and trusted. Whereas the design industry has historically been driven by relationships, reputation, and physical experience, AI introduces new layers of visibility, competition, and strategic urgency. This keynote explores why relevance is becoming more fragile, why innovation must extend beyond products into positioning and messaging, and why continuous evolution is now essential for long-term brand sustainability. Attendees will gain a strategic understanding of how A&D brands can adapt proactively (not reactively) to remain visible, differentiated, and future-ready in an AI-influenced marketplace. Hope to see you there! ✨
