There is SO much noise when you’re a parent. We’re constantly being told what we’re doing wrong, what we shouldn’t do, and what we should be doing instead. Finding the information that actually informed me, helped me grow as a parent and made our family life more cohesive was surprisingly hard.

There are three parenting experts whose advice I genuinely swear by, and Gen Muir from @connectedparentingau is one of them. So getting to meet her today and thank her for Little People, Big Feelings was a bucket-list moment.

If you’ve followed for a while, you’ll know emotional regulation was something I really dug into when learning how to parent my Big Feeler. Gen’s book became a lifeline. I bought the audiobook after finding it at the library and have listened to it probably five times — almost 48 hours of Gen’s voice reassuring me that I wasn’t getting it all wrong, that big feelings are part of being little, and that it’s a process.

So hearing Gen talk today about play and our relationships with our kids felt pretty special.

And then there was @mattokine! My husband is a die-hard Triple J listener, and Matt and Alex Dyson were the soundtrack to our drive-to-work every morning, long before kids. So watching Matt play Simon Says today with our eldest was a bit of a spin out!

The kids played with #duplo, Matt delivered dad jokes, and Gen reminded us that play doesn’t need to be complicated. Sometimes it’s simply getting down on the floor, being silly and giving our kids our attention.

A lovely morning at the @legocertifiedstores_anz at @robinatowncentre, and a reminder I was very happy to hear.

Such a fun morning with @lego @legocertifiedstores_anz for their Dads & Bubs event 🙌🏼

Unfortunately, hubby had a busy night at work and didn’t get home until late this morning so I played “dad” but the kids had a lot of fun building and I had a lot of fun drinking a hot coffee (yep, got to drink it hot today hehe) and listening to a great and insightful parenting chat with Matt and Gen 🥰

Thank you for having us ❤️

Our living rooms are quietly changing shape, and it's got nothing to do with a new coffee table.
Recent data from @templeandwebster shows we're ditching the TV-facing setup for something a little more intentional, spaces designed for actually talking to the people we're with, not just watching a screen alongside them.
Think curved, modular seating pulled inward, a record player replacing the soundbar, and a whole lot of inspiration borrowed from the classic 70s conversation pit, minus the renovation.
We've pulled together why this shift is happening and how to bring the feel of it into your own home, no structural work required.

Check out "Why Our Living Rooms Are Finally Turning Away From the TV", link in bio.

Would you rearrange your lounge room for more face-to-face time, or are you team TV-first forever?

Unboxing LEGO Pokémon sets - took us (read: mostly Nick🤣) 6+ hours to build them!

There are several selections like Pikachu, Charizard, Jolteon, Charmander, Bulbasaur, Eeve, Lapras, Cubone, Gengar and more. As Pokémon fans, this is definitely my favourite collab LEGO ever done😎

so, which set is your favourite? 👇🏻

We were given one mission: Never Stop Playing. 🧱

When research revealed parents wanted more time to play with their kids, LEGO Australia brought play to them.

Ahead of World Play Day, we created the LEGO Brick Brigade, a custom-built, fully mobile play unit designed to interrupt everyday moments, with a little more fun.

A utility truck became a rolling LEGO playground, complete with pull-out play tables, brick storage, giant 3D accessories, oversized bricks, custom graphics and even a brick-built fuzzy dice and air freshening tree.

Because when you’re LEGO, even the truck needs to PLAY ON.

Designed and project managed by Rockstar Management.

Executed with our friends at @thrivepr

This week at @lego ‘s #BigLittlePlayDate @highpointofficial something really special happened… And it wasn’t just about the bricks.

It was about the people who showed up believing that play matters.

@stephclairesmith and Gen Muir @connectedparentingau brought parenting wisdom and infectious energy. @emmamemmamemma brought that spark of wonder that reminds us all what it feels like to be a kid.

But here’s what really got me; every single person in the room from the hosts to the teams behind the scenes understood the same thing my family taught me decades ago. That play is sacred. That children deserve space to imagine. That magic happens when we all commit to that belief.

This is what collaboration looks like when values actually align. This is what happens when people who care about the same things come together.

Play is foundational to human development and creative problem solving.
