A few days ago, my friends at @lesambassadeurslux handed me the new Breguet Marine Chronographe 5527 in titanium, and it immediately upended everything I expected from a high-end sports watch.

Breguet has done something remarkable with this update. On paper, a 42.3mm diameter and 13.9mm thickness sound substantial. On the wrist, however, the Grade 5 titanium makes it feel incredibly weightless.

The classic fluted caseband grounds the piece in traditional watchmaking DNA, but the interplay of brushed and polished finishes gives it a sharp, modern edge that proves titanium can look just as luxurious as precious metal.

The true highlight is the hand-guilloché gold dial. Adorned with the “Quai de l’Horloge” wave pattern, the textured surface catches the light with mesmerizing depth. Relocating the date window to 6 o’clock is a brilliant move—it brings a clean, balanced symmetry back to the face. The streamlined chronograph registers feel perfectly proportioned, flanked by crisp luminescent numerals and those signature faceted “apple” hands.

Turning the watch over reveals the self-winding Calibre 582QA through the open caseback. The nautical steering-wheel rotor is a masterclass in finishing, and the flyback pusher engagement is crisp, tactile, and completely seamless.

Paired with the rubber strap, it achieves the perfect blend of luxury and utility. It sits flat, holds securely, and feels genuinely ready for its 100-meter water resistance rating.

One of the most impressive pieces we saw in Atlanta came from @schwarzetienne which had a wonderful lineup.

This particular model, the 1902 GMT, stuck out as a particularly beautiful piece. Fit and finish is superb, and we expect nothing less from a name like SE.

The design is stunning, and while our Nikon D850 captures the essence well, this must be experienced in person. The subtle coloration on the hands, the GMT functions within the movement, and the way it sits perfectly on the wrist all show that the people of Schwarz Etienne have a solid grasp of what matters to collectors. If you find yourself looking for a GMT that isn’t just another Oyster, this one needs to be on your list.

Thank you to Schwarz Etienne for being so hospitable and gracious with your time at the Atlanta Watch Salon. We enjoyed our time with you immensely.

More Watch Salon experiences on the way, stay tuned as we continue to drop new posts and stories so you can see the Salon as we experienced it.

Great sushi, great company, and two very different ways to tell time. 🍣⌚️

An incredible dinner at @sushizanmai.la with my good friend @journe.watchaddict , whose recommendation absolutely delivered.

His Rolex GMT-Master II 126710BLNR on Jubilee, my Ōtsuka Lōtec No. 6 on mustard suede—and some seriously fresh fish in between. 🐟

The kind of night that makes you appreciate the details. 🥢

Would you wear the Zentier Z2 JZ Edition?

Grey fumé, Eastern Arabic numerals, and just enough orange to make it impossible to ignore.

Bagels & lox for breakfast seemed fitting. 🥯

So… this happened. 😈🔴

The M.A.D.2 REDemption finally landed — and apparently a turntable on my wrist is a perfectly reasonable choice for dinner.

16 seconds of mechanical insanity, from the unboxing to the wrist.

The M.A.D.1S started the conversation.
The M.A.D.3 Vincent Calabrese joined the chat.
Now the REDemption has arrived.

And honestly… I’m not sure I can pick a favorite. 👀

M.A.D.1S, M.A.D.2 REDemption or M.A.D.3 Vincent Calabrese?

Which one gets your vote? 👇

Huge thank you to @m.a.d.editions and @ericgiroudesign for making these wonderfully unconventional watches a reality, and to @maxbusser for bringing the M.A.D. world to life. 🙏🙏

I clearly have a taste for watches that refuse to be ordinary🤪

🍳 ☕️ A balanced brunch should include protein, caffeine, and an unreasonable amount of independent horology.

The 17.06 Copper from @mingwatches understood the assignment 👊🏼 ⌚️
