Emotions are not actions—they are cues to choose action.
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
I used to own an agency, my team and I wouldn’t only document my stories but we had clients as well. Unfortunately I lost everything. The silver lining is that now, I get to invest in my family instead. What I discovered that each member of my family has a unique passion that I’ve been documenting. As a new author @mrsmelanin has a perspective that brings peace to womanhood and she celebrates that with her book launch event. Her new book Release Rest Remain is out now. Pick up this 30-day devotional where books are sold. Music by @jeremyrosinger

Yesterday was special. 🥹 And if you know me, you know I love celebrating other people. I will plan it, host it, decorate it, hype it up, and make sure you feel deeply seen. But when it comes time for me to be celebrated? Whew. Suddenly I’m unsure. Suddenly I don’t quite know what I want or need. Suddenly it feels easier to move on to the next task than to sit in the honor.

Here’s what I’m choosing to honor, though: I am a published author. And that deserves a moment.

Not a rushed acknowledgment. Not a humble deflection. A moment.

To everyone who showed up, THANK YOU!! Your presence spoke louder than any words could. Your presence gave me permission to REMAIN. To not hurry past this. To let this accomplishment breathe. To let it linger. To allow joy to settle instead of immediately shifting into “what’s next?”

The book launch felt like an embodied reminder of the rhythm I’ve been living for years — to pause, to receive, to remain — and to actually let myself stay there. A rhythm where I don’t just produce, I pause. Where I don’t just achieve, I receive. Where I allow what God has done to fully land in my spirit before I start striving again.

Remaining is not laziness. It’s trust. It’s saying, “Lord, I see what You did here. I won’t rush past Your faithfulness.” It’s resisting the urge to busy myself just to feel useful. It’s letting gratitude stretch out a little longer than my discomfort.

This is the rhythm I’m committed to: releasing what needs to be released, resting in what God has done (and is doing), and remaining long enough to let it shape me before I move again.

And as I continue living this out, I’m reminded that remaining isn’t passive. It’s empowering. It’s rooted. It’s faithful.

Yesterday wasn’t about becoming someone new. It was about honoring who God has already been forming in me.

And I’m grateful to stay here a little while longer. ♥️
