Some stories are just too good not to bring full circle!

In 1997, legendary chef Edna Lewis and Barboursville winemaker Luca Paschina hosted a dinner together at Barboursville Vineyards.

Fast forward to Oeno Camp 2026, when Luca casually shared this story over lunch with grantee Quayla Allen-Comela, who happens to work with the Edna Lewis Foundation. Naturally, she knew this story needed a second chapter!

And the timing couldn’t be better. This year marks both Barboursville’s 50th anniversary and 50 years since the publication of Edna’s iconic cookbook, The Taste of Country Cooking.

On November 5, we’re bringing it all back to the table with Ridge to Root at Barboursville! Chef Leah Branch will prepare recipes from Edna’s cookbook, with food historian Deb Freeman joining us for this special celebration of Virginia’s culinary roots.

All part of Two Up Wine Down weekend!

Nearly 30 years later, what a beautiful reason to gather around the table again.

An all-star lineup of wine curators, DJ-spun beats, and food from Chimm, Pearl Island, Pie Guy, and Vegan Comfort Soul Food. Plus, a special Monticello Wine Trail VIP courtyard experience.

Every ticket supports Oeno Camp and the next generation of wine professionals.

I needed a separate post to highlight the best part of my Oeno Camp experience: the people.

Gratuitous Selfie Warning

The organizers, winemakers and fellow campers have all accomplished so much and contributed so deeply to the wine community. As someone still figuring out where I fit within the industry, I could easily have felt intimidated. Instead, everyone was warm, welcoming and humble.

Despite meeting these folks for the first time, Oeno Camp felt like a homecoming. I guess that’s what happens when you find your tribe. Thanks to @oenoverse and @theveraisonproject for bringing this cast of characters together.

I came for the vines, but will return for the vibes. ❤️

Looking forward to seeing everyone at Two Up Wine Down this fall!

Oeno Camp 2026

I came to Virginia curious about Virginia wine to be honest that was the gift.

To sit at tables with winemakers, growers, and wine professionals asking not only what Virginia wine is, but what it might become for a new generation of drinkers.

I’m still thinking about the conversations, the bottles shared, the late-night cheesesteaks, and the gift of community.

There are giants who came before us, and there is something sacred about being invited to carry a little of that work forward.

Grateful for the people, the place, and the invitation to imagine the future of wine together.

Meeting the virtual queen who made me feel seen while studying? Too many dimples. Too surreal.

Reunited with one of my first Virginia wine introductions, 1/3 of the amazing force behind @commonwealthcrush the legendary Lee Campbell @bewitchinglee .

I can’t believe it’s already been two weeks since our fifth Oeno Camp.

For three full days, @oenoverse x @theveraisonproject welcomed an incredible cohort of grantees to Charlottesville and beyond to experience Virginia wine through the people, places, vineyards, cellars, and bottles that make this region so special.

And somewhere in the middle of it all, I kept thinking: how lucky am I that this is the community I get to be part of every day?

To our Oeno Campers: thank you for showing up with so much curiosity, trust, kindness, and openness. And to every winemaker, grower, chef, historian, host, and industry friend who opened a door, pulled a cork, walked us through a vineyard, shared a meal, told a story, or welcomed us into your space: thank you.

Five years of Oeno Camp, and I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built and the people who continue to make it what it is.

Virginia wine, you’re pretty special🫶🏻

Day three and Oeno Camp 2026 is wrapped🎁

A little summer rain ruined our plans to visit the Barboursville Ruins, but it didn’t slow us down.

For many Oeno campers, Barboursville Vineyards was already a familiar name thanks to distribution in their home markets. This weekend, they had the chance to experience the place and people behind the wines. From walking the land and hearing stories from Luca Paschina and National Sales Manager Holly Feraci.

We closed out Oeno Camp around the table, sharing an amazing lunch and reflecting on a weekend that brought together people from all over the country through Virginia wine.

Thank you to everyone who trusted us with this experience. We already can’t wait to do it again next year 🥹🫶🏽
