Little throwback Playlist tonight and coincidentally four bands that I've all seen live. Born in the 80s, romanticize the 90s but man early 2000s were something else. That goes for alot hardcore and metal albums too.

The first record I ever bought on this episode of Random Record Reviews! It’s the year 2000 and I’m a 16 year old kid from rural Ontario in the big city of Toronto. After striking out at the iconic Sam The Record Man on Yonge St., right next door was HMV. I bought 2 records that day (see punk countdown no. 2) which included this orange pressing of Tiger Army’s debut record. Great album from front to back! T.A.N.D 🐅

Geoff Kresge is one of those bass players who deserves way more recognition. I was lucky enough to see Geoff play in ALL THREE of these bands, and I probably saw him with AFI 10 or more times. He was fucking amazing! His playing with those early AFI lineups was aggressive, melodic and completely locked into the energy of the band. Then he went on to play stand-up bass with Tiger Army, showing a completely different side of his playing.

One of my favorite memories was going to see FEAR and watching Geoff jump on stage and start playing bass with them. I was completely shocked! I couldn’t believe I was watching Geoff play with FEAR, and I was so fucking stoked to see him up there absolutely KILLING IT! AFI, Tiger Army and FEAR are three completely different worlds, and he crushed it with all three. Homies, did you ever get to see Geoff play live? Which band did you see him with? #punkrockbassplayers #afi #tigerarmy
