🎉 BIG NEWS AT ELITE SAILING! 🎉

We are incredibly proud to share that our Chief Instructor, Steve (Hodge) @hodgeontheweb has officially been awarded an RYA Impact Award! ⛵️🏆

This recognition from the @royalyachtingassociation is a testament to what everyone who has ever stepped aboard with Hodge already knows: his dedication, passion, and teaching talent are second to none.

Hodge was presented his award last night, as we brought together some of our wonderful partners who support Elite behind the scenes, for a night of celebration and to say thank you to all for making Elite the amazing sailing school and adventure sailing centre that it is… @chatham_maritime_trust @mdlmarinas @mdlchatham @tillerandwheel @qboroughharbour @gillingham_marina , Willinsons Sails, Trimnet and PSI Marine.

Here is a glimpse of what his nominators had to say about Hodge:
“Steve was consistently praised for his exceptional teaching ability, extensive sailing knowledge, and passion for developing others... Nominators highlighted his ability to adapt his teaching style to suit individual learners, creating a supportive, inclusive, and enjoyable environment where students feel comfortable, gain confidence, and achieve their potential.”

“Whether he’s breaking down complex navigation into plain English, ensuring every single student feels confident at the helm, or working tirelessly behind the scenes to build Elite Sailing into a welcoming, professional, and highly respected training centre, Hodge embodies the very best of our sailing community.”

Please join us in giving Steve a massive congratulations! 🥂
Blue water, clear skies, and fair winds - well deserved, Hodge! 🙌

Thames Barge Edith May, sailing from Lower Halstow. This photo was taken all the way back in 2020! After more than 6 years, this is still one of my favourite photos

There is always something magical and special about the sight and even sound of a traditional sailing vessel under canvas.
To be able to observe and also sail onboard the 1923 built Thames Sailing Barge 'Lady Daphne' along the River Medway was a privilage.

Pictures taken on the River Medway near Chatham, Kent.

What a fantastic day yesterday. To see five historic Thames barges arriving in Burnham on Crouch was a truly moving experience. All our thanks to the crews and skippers of these amazing boats, to everyone who helped get the day organised and running smoothly, the delicious hog roast @essexhogroastsltd, plenty of beer from @wibblers_taproom, and, of course the fabulous Brandy Hole Shanty Singers for keeping us all entertained. A special mention to the @burnhamsailingclub for hosting us all. Same again next year?!
