Romans room got a spooky makeover 🕷️

Over the years we’ve collected so many pumpkins and Halloween cushions that they make up a whole wall of spooky cuteness and throw in so scary @jellycat and it really is a sight to see 🤍

The pegrail of dreams is bursting with all the small business makes you could possible dream of and that’s how we do Halloween/autumn in this house. Yes it’s OTT but that’s how we like it 🕷️

I’ll never tire or apologise for being the OTT mum, creating the magic is honestly the best job in the world x

#gifted Despite buying our home over two years ago, I’ve been pretty slack documenting our progress on here. I think the combination of having a newborn baby and discovering we’d bought a house that was a crumbly money pit with an asbestos garage and some sort of Heath Robinson boiler system kind of put a dampener on the whole experience.

So in my attempt to fill in what we’ve been up to these past two years, here’s my first instalment; the nursery transformation.

I’ve always loved the combination of green and pink together, so when @yes.colours kindly offered the paint I didn’t hold back on the choice of shade - a happy candy pink known as Calming Pink and a deep rich green known as Passionate Olive. The door is the most scrumptious shade of lilac - Joyful Lilac. And the skirting and architrave is Loving Teal.

It’s a teeny tiny room, so we’ve had to be clever with storage. A tall boy and painted @ikeauk shelves for little clothes. The mammoth armchair will have to go soon, but for now it’s a welcome comfort for the night settles (of which there are many).

It’s a special little space filled with paraphernalia collected or made over the years. I painted an old shelf the same colour as the walls and added a whimsical bird motif.

Your reminder that neither whimsy nor autumn needs to be purchased from a shop, making a tiny bit more effort to romanticise the everyday and simply noticing the things around you a little more, will make your life and their childhood more whimsical and magical than any seasonal purchase you could make (and I say this whilst owning that I do indeed have the seasonal mugs!) 🍁🍄✨🍂🤎

🎈 Can we talk about the fact it’s almost July which means it will be birthday season in our house? My children’s birthdays are just 9 days apart so I try to get organised because July is such a busy time with a trip for our wedding anniversary before it & the weeks fly extra fast with school sports days etc!

I always get asked for gift guides but as they get older & find their interests they become a bit more niche. I’ve pulled together their wish lists & will share some of the bits we’re getting them/have asked family for which I’ll chat about on stories today & save links in a highlight if it’s of interest. We always try to choose experiences over physical *stuff* but there’s also a magic of them opening a few bits they’ll get really excited for. I try to get what I can second hand or know that it will be useful/well used! Would love to hear any ideas you have for a 7 and 5 year old or just in general the best gifts your children have ever received.

They’ve been counting down to their birthdays & parties with charts in their rooms since it ticked past 100 days! This year they’re having small ish individual parties. Freya’s having a football training party and Raffy is Lego where I’ve hired big crates of Lego to be delivered & we’ll do piñatas for both, somehow they’ve become a right of passage for parties now. I just love planning their cakes & decorations with them.

I couldn’t resist digging out some photos from the last 6 years of birthdays 🥹 time is such a thief! It only feels like yesterday I was getting ready for Freya’s 1st birthday and now I’m about to have a 7 and a 5 year old?! What a ride! This cheeky guy is completely and utterly obsessed with his new Lightening McQueen @tonies_uk from his Valetines basket and has sat happily listening to it since yesterday. I needn’t have bothered buying anything else (although the bulk of it was from the last year) 🤍

I’ll miss this display of all things LOVE when it’s gone away for another year but it’ll soon be Easter and spring vibes are not to be sniffed at are they! 🤎
