We’re honored to share work by incarcerated artists Dennis Cochran, Jason Cuomo, Eric Laurson, and Rick Ragels in Tilting West, a new exhibition with the Arvada Center and Tilt West.

Through paintings and drawings of landscapes they cannot physically access, these artists explore memory, longing, resistance, and connection to the natural world. Their work invites us to reconsider the mythology of the American West through the realities of incarceration and the enduring power of creativity.

Exhibition Dates: June 4 - August 23, 2026

Opening Reception: Thursday, June 4, 2026 6–9 PM (RSVP at link in bio)
Round Table- Hosted by Tilt West: July 14, 2026, 6 - 8:30 PM (RSVP at link in bio)

I'm thrilled to announce that I've been invited to be a part of Tilting West, an amazing group show at @arvadacenter in partnership with @tiltwest !!!

Tilting West is a large-scale group exhibition that reexamines the genre of the American West through contemporary lens. Blending invited and juried artists from across the region, the exhibition includes 12 invited artists and 103 selected works chosen from 1555 submissions by 335 artists. Stunning!
This exhibition presents a wide range of perspectives that engage with and challenge the traditions within Western art. Through fresh interpretations of place, identity, land and culture, this exhibition explores how the mythology of the West continues to shape the present, inviting audiences to experience the region not as a fixed idea, but as a living and evolving landscape of histories, communities and possibilities.

As many of you know, I've been on the board of Tilt West for the past three years, and am so proud of the work that we do to create space for critical dialog in the Denver arts community!

Tilt West is celebrating its 10th season this year, and we are kicking it off with a party and a silent auction to help support our expanded programming for the season, including an additional roundtable, commissions by local artists and writers, and a community partnership.

I hope you can come support Tilt West at our Season 10 Kickoff Party, next Sunday, Sept. 7th, 6-8 pm at Visions West Contemporary. And, whether or not that fits in your calendar, you can support us by bidding in our silent auction, with local art, museum memberships and more up for grabs!

See the link in my bio to RSVP to the party, and register to bid. Hope to see you there!

Artist @seewalker_art and @acluofcolorado settled their case against the town of Vail. What do the settlement terms achieve in the civil rights landscape? Among the many censorship/retaliation stories in American art today, how is this story different? Read more @theartnewspaper.official, link in my bio ☝️
