A little reminder that self care doesn’t always have to look like doing more. Sometimes, it’s making a cup of tea, spending time with God, putting pen to paper, and allowing yourself to simply be. A little ritual to nourish the woman you are becoming✨

What did your childhood smell like? 🌙

Maybe it was your grandmother's kitchen, a bar of soap, or rain on a warm sidewalk. Whatever it was, you probably didn't choose it. It just happened again and again until it became part of you.

New research published in PLOS Biology found that in young mice, happy scent memories were held by brain cells formed right around birth. Human brains may differ, but when the researchers surveyed adults, nearly 3 in 4 said their earliest happy scent memory came from something they'd smelled more than five times.

Which means the ordinary things you repeat every night are quietly becoming your children's memories.

✨ Tonight's tiny ritual: give bedtime a smell.

We asked two friends of ours to help with this one. @tisfortame makes kids' hair care that turns bath time into a smell of its own. @time_within makes grounding scents made for kids and families. Add a familiar song as the lights go down, and you have a bedtime they may carry with them for decades.

Also good this week: fewer teens are carrying persistent sadness than two years ago, more high schoolers are playing on a team, and Mexico is putting phones away in its classrooms. (Swipe to slide 5.)

Now we want to hear yours. What smell takes you straight back to being small? Tell us below. We'll share a few favorites in next week's Exhale. 👇

As we step into a new month and begin to feel the shift of another season, I’ve found myself returning to one question:

What does it mean to restore?

It’s a conversation that has been finding its way into my life over the past few months with friends, around the table with members of my Sacred Circle, while preparing for an upcoming retreat, and within my own quiet moments.

Our last editorial journey explored The Art of Presence arriving, noticing, and slowing down enough to be where our feet are.

But what comes after presence?

Perhaps, restoration.

This month, we’ll explore what it means to pause, replenish our energy, create space, and tend to the parts of ourselves that may be asking for a little more care.

Welcome to Volume III: The Art of Restoration.

What would restore you right now?

The gift of being here is not always found in what is said.

Sometimes, it is found in the stillness.

Last night, during our Sacred Circle Community gathering, I lightly guided us through a drop-in meditation an invitation to quiet what was happening around us and return to what was happening within.

To the breath.
To the body.
To ourselves.

And from that place of stillness, Lulu, one of our Sacred Circle Community members, shared the gift of sound inviting us, through the gentle rhythm of the chimes, to become even more present to the moment we were in.

There was something about the sound moving through the space.

We listened.
We softened.
We allowed ourselves to receive.

For those few moments, there was nowhere else to be and nothing else that needed our attention.

We were simply here.

As I sat within the circle, I watched the intention behind Sacred Circle come alive again.

This community is not simply about gathering around a table. It is about creating a space where we can arrive as ourselves and where the gifts within our community can naturally find their way into the circle.

Last night, Lulu shared one of hers.

And we received it.

That, too, is the gift of being here.

As we close August’s Art of Presence, perhaps this is the invitation we carry with us:

Be where your feet are.
Listen to what is here.
Allow yourself to receive.

Because sometimes presence isn't something we have to find.

Sometimes, we only have to become still enough to notice that we're already here.

ROOTS & RHYTHMS — A 4-WEEK JOURNEY

What if wellness wasn’t about following another list of things you should be doing, but about creating space to listen to your own body and discover what truly nourishes you?

Roots & Rhythms is a four-week journey created by Se Luz Healing × NUA Universal, bringing together feminine health, cyclical living, nervous-system regulation, conscious movement, breathwork, botanical ritual, ancestral wisdom, and modern science.

We meet twice a week to Gather, Embody & Integrate — learning together, bringing the teachings into the body, and creating space for you to discover what feels truly supportive for you.

Throughout the journey, you’ll be guided to create your own personal ritual, accompanied by Se Luz Healing teas and Time Within Essential Essence.

Because your wellbeing is not one-size-fits-all.

It’s a relationship.

A listening.

A return.

🌿 Your body. Your rhythm. Your ritual.

4 weeks · 8 live sessions
Movement · Breathwork · Nervous-system practices
Women’s circle · Botanical rituals
Available in English & Spanish

Our contribution-based Introductory Class begins August 22nd, starting at $5 — you choose how much you’d like to contribute.

The Roots & Rhythms 4-Week Journey begins September 2 · Online

If you feel called to explore this with us, the introductory class and full journey are waiting for you in the link in our bio. 🤍

Presence is not always found by doing more.

Sometimes, it begins by creating a quiet ritual that gently reminds the body and spirit that it is safe to slow down.

As part of The Art of Presence, we are highlighting @time_within, a product I have come to love using during meditation. It adds another layer of intention to my practice, helping me settle more deeply, soften the noise around me, and return to what is here.

Because the objects we bring into our sacred practices can become more than products. They can become invitations to pause, breathe, and come home to ourselves.

We look forward to thoughtfully weaving @time_within into one of our upcoming Sacred Retreat Experiences, allowing our guests to encounter it within a space created for presence, reflection, and deeper connection.

More to unfold. 🤍
