This one is for all the people that don’t give up on their friends or themselves. It’s going to get hard at times and the fact that you stick it through with better in mind means something. It’s all worth the effort and it will strengthen you for whatever foreseen friction awaits. You will have new data to pull from and a larger capacity to deal with the necessary. It won’t be perfect but it’s all useful.

This is an image of my grandfather, Woldu Tesfai Giorghis, and his resting place in Embeito, Eritrea. I printed it on canvas and stained it with Bunna. It’s exhibited alongside an image of him and myself as a baby, the only image I have with him, as part of “Home: A Photodom Team Exhibition.” See it together with the beautiful work of my friends, in person at @photodom.nyc until September 1st 🤎

Our impact report highlights heart-warming moments, impactful partnerships, leadership development, and new connections created across our community.

🧗🏿‍♀️ Outdoor Climbing- In 2025, Brown Girls Climb provided 17 opportunities for our members to get outside, including our first gym to crag program in partnership with @metrorock_bushwick .

🎓 Brown Girls Climb Grant - Brown Girls Climb, in partnership with @climbing4change and @centralrockgym , awarded grants to 8 community members and local leaders. These grants provided financial support to recipients looking to access climbing and outdoor education. In total, through The Brown Girls Climb Grant, we have supported 34 community members over the past four years, allocating $22.5k. Want to support this grant program? Send us an email at info@browngirlsclimb.com to inquire.

🍃 Leave No Trace- This year, Brown Girls Climb partnered with @accessfund to host the first Leave No Trace Level 2 certification course centering Women and Genderqueer Folks of Color! This course took place in Moab, Utah, and included in-depth discussions on topics such as indigenous land stewardship, racism on trail, and reproductive health in the backcountry.

👩🏿‍💻 Discord- In 2025, Brown Girls Climb launched our Discord server, allowing Women and Genderqueer climbers of Color from all over the world to connect with one another online. This server contains regional channels and channels where folks can connect around specific interests or identities within the broader climbing space.

📸 Photography- This year was the first year that Brown Girls Climb worked with predominantly Women and Genderqueer photographers of the Global Majority. We also hosted a climbing photography workshop, helping to open doors for more community members in the field.

As we move forward, Brown Girls Climb remains committed to our core values of mentorship, representation, and responsible recreation. We can’t wait to see what 2026 has in store.
