“what is romantic love?” ft. @luzcofficial 🎤

pt. 2 — 💌 Love as an emotion is so big it’s hard to encapsulate into one moment and one person. It goes back to self, it goes back to others. It goes back through time.

When I first asked LUZC to define love, she started with the platonic kind. I was intrigued as to why that was her first definition of love — but the more we grew individually and within our friendship, the more I understood. The way we love freely and express ourselves truly in friendship is what truly defines emotional intimacy. Where we strengthen our understanding of who we are and what we deserve from another. Lucy, you continue to keep me in awe with the gold that is your heart and wisdom of your mind. Thank you for being you! 💗

the making of a true lover girl 🥹💗🎥

(pt 1!) — I remember the first time I heard LUZC single “Escape” 4 years ago. We didn’t know each other as well back then, but Lucy’s lyrics resonated with me so much that it felt like we did.

Words written by a heart that knows both love and pain, “Escape” was beautifully sung by someone who learned how to find her voice and self again. And so as I sat behind the camera, I felt inclined to ask Lucy — how did you do it? How do you love, again? 🎤

What started as a question towards romantic love — turned into a response that journeyed through all the variations of love. Self-love, friendships and then romantic relationships. All in that order.

So thank you Lucy for not giving me a straight-forward answer. For sharing experiences that we can all resonate with. For turning it into art. And for choosing to love even harder! 🥰

“knowing the good times immortalized in your smile” - @wesleyjoseph__✨

for this timeless shoot I asked @aplace4healing for a makeup look that recreated tears in motion. crying face. but I wanted her to smile! she didn’t wear her heart on her sleeve. she wore it on her cheek. with a teardrop falling beside it. releasing emotions we felt so deeply, we experienced both love and loss. in each frame the sun began shining brighter and brighter. the light became so bright that we had no other choice but to bask in it! 🫶

🎥 so many, so many sad songs 🥲🎶

sometimes bad things happen to good people. and it doesn’t make sense. life doesn’t always either. but coming back from it. welcoming people in. brings back hope. laughter. and eventually joy. ✨

This project is inspired by grief. By literal loss and past hurts we have carried for far too long. The process of letting go became a celebration. A return back to ourself. Before the pain. It’s the first time I wanted to touch on something so heavy. But the first time I heard this song, it made me want to. There’s something light within it. And some form of comfort in knowing we all move through this. I wanted to let all my heavy tears turn into something beautiful. 💧

my favorite lover girl 💗 LUZC !

spent a few summer days shooting with LUZC (@luzcofficial) Harlem born & raised singer - songwriter and now friend! 🎶 I wanted us to go back uptown to where both our creative journeys started. Reconnecting over life, music and taking a chance on our passions, it’s beautiful how paths realign in perfect timing!

I’m realizing more and more how much my camera is an energy vessel. Lucy’s lyrics are what initially what made me want to connect. I think expressing yourself, especially in love is a brave thing. And I wanted to document her journey. I never expected to receive so much love back. So I thank you endlessly Lucy for pouring such admiration & trust into this vision I had. 🥲

Appreciate you for the space to slow down and enjoy the process of creating during the most chaotic time of my adult life. Harlem holds such a special time in my life and now it holds another! 💫

As part of my “Our ____” series, I wanted to put creatives in front of my lens. We’re always creating stories behind the scenes, I wanted to have a moment where we tell ours. So I invited Jordan into @photodom.nyc studio, she brought along all her film props from throughout the years and we created a set of our own. One built on passion, purpose and alignment.

“I started making films before I believed I can do it. 📽️ I was able to see a film festival and I looked around and everyone around me looked like me. I saw it [their films] being played on the big screen and it kind of de-mystified what it had to be. That it doesn’t have to be this big circus thing, I can really just put my mind to it and just film it myself. You really have to be stupid enough, crazy enough, delusional enough to go do it! It was such a dream bringing Jordan into my
“Our ____” series. To have you surrounded by all the film props was such a special moment for us both. To be able to pause and celebrate your continuing journey — while also proclaiming how proud you are of yourself is a moment that I wish for every artist. It’s really about each step we decide to take forward. The BTS of the BTS! 🎞️

Spent a beautiful afternoon in studio with @zin_vizion for my “Our ____” series 🖌️

I got chills recording Zindzi’s interview because her words felt like echoes in my own mind. An affirmation to be fearless in allowing life itself to guide you through your artistry and purpose. ✨

Thank you for sharing the essence of being an artist. Our power. For expanding the narrative on what it means to be an artist and drawing a space in which we live in abundance rather than struggle and lack. Where peace shows confidence. And risk becomes inner-knowing. Thank you for sharing that following your dreams can be pre-destined, but also a choice we make each day. It’s a discipline. And a celebration of who we are 💛
