Riding into 2026 like 😁😁😁

Baby’s firsts of 2025:
First time clipping in (thanks for the encouragement mom)
First time riding a century
First time attending a cyclocross race
Then immediately participating in my first cyclocross race (thanks for creating a welcoming space @obf415cc)
First time riding an ultra endurance event (what a wonderful odyssey @japanese_odyssey )
First time taking my bike apart… and putting it back together again (thanks to everyone that held my hand)
First time taking my bike on an airplane
A not fun first:
First run in with cow parsnip (Hopefully my last run in. Look it up. Don’t touch it. Thank me later.)

I didn’t do a single one of these things alone.

I’m ready for seconds. I’m hungry for more. I’m eager to live.

I hope to see you up the road in 2026

Holler up the big climbs, and fly down the front, learn which limit screw does what, sleep under the stars, howl at the coyotes, and eat so much oatmeal, sugar, instant potatoes, pickles and clif bars they all become one. 8 days/ 650km of biking through the desert with 60 humans is a pretty special thing. Rallying is an act of resistance 💛

Big love to @laelwilcox @rugilekaladyte @mpmassagetherapy @mindride.ibk @gofastergaby @ashleygruber and @komoot for challenging us all and bringing us together in a time where so much feels so bleak. It is a week i'll treasure in my heart forever 🥰🌵 #kwar2024

i got to share 8 days and 400 miles of riding my bike through the desert with 60 incredible women.

it was a week of extremes and contradictions, to say the least.

we woke up every morning with frozen toes and fingers, and by afternoon we were searching desperately for shade to escape the heat.

i moved my body more consistently than i have in a long time, and i ate more gas station candy and fried foods than i should have.

we moved through landscapes that changed every day, from snowy mountain peaks, to stately saguaros, to stunning rock formations at the mexican border.

we cheered each other up hard climbs and whooped our way down the wicked descents.

we shared raucous laughter at snack stops and vulnerable stories around the fire.

we howled at the moon and we toasted to our journey with whiskey and hot dogs.

i’m coming back from this trip exhausted yet motivated, depleted yet full in the heart. it was just what i needed this week - challenge and simplicity, campfires and community.

thanks so much to the inimitable @laelwilcox and @komoot for hosting such an empowering event. just keep pedalin 🚲
