This idea has been floating (no pun intended) around in my head for a while now and to finally get to bring it to life has been a dream come true. Thank you so much @tubi @soopisgoodfood @mkleingram and especially to my favorite client @colleenintvland 😂 for allowing me to bring THE DEEP END to life and share it with audiences worldwide.

To my lead actress, best friend, and partner in crime — your dedication to this film and your craft challenges me to be a better director and partner in the hopes that I can repay the favor and support your dreams as much as you have mine (with both THE DEEP END & IT HELPS). I love you @jessimechler and can’t wait to have share many more on-set glances, private screenings, and romantic strolls through studio lots that little us would’ve only dreamed about. 🦭🪨

To @beaufoxxofficial — you are far beyond your years in your professionalism and your skills in the pool left the entire crew in awe. You worked incredibly hard. I can’t wait to see how your career blooms, and I’ll be there cheering you on every step of the way. Thank you for being such a pleasure to work with.

@connorpaolo — thank you for believing in the vision even when all hell broke loose, C-stands were thrown, or Tesla’s were backed into. I couldn’t have done it without you.

Forgive me for not hunting down every Instagram — but I owe a huge debt to the following individuals (and many more) without whom THE DEEP END wouldn’t exist: @heyaaron___ @tinociatti @patrickbmakeup @lightingladian @visualeef @nicholasklesmith @trevor_newlin @craiglittleton @crystalloverro @gabetake2 @softersweeter @taylorrowsonmoir @reecescarpignato @chriscampbellsound @gregorbonse @downtoclownmakeup @iamariellediaz

Still blown away that IT HELPS got to premiere at @fantastic.fest . Truly couldn’t have imagined a better place to share this film for the first time.

Fantastic Fest has always felt like such a special home for strange, bold, genre-bending movies, so getting to be there with ours was surreal.

It’s been a hell of a journey from concept to screen, and I wouldn’t change a moment of it. Thank you to everyone who worked on the film and helped get us here — especially my producer turned brother @connorpaolo and to my lead actress turned love of my life @jessimechler, whose patience with me has kept me sane through all of it. ❤️😉

Thank you, Fantastic Fest, for having @ithelpsfilm. Still can’t quite believe it.

Much more to come 😈🐚🦀👻🎼

The Earth That Couldn’t Stand Still
dir. Annie Rhodes Kane

The Earth That Couldn’t Stand Still is a short film that leads with feeling and memory. Inspired by an original poem (that also narrates the piece), the story tracks a sweater through the inception and aftermath of a relationship. Flashing between time periods, it captures sweet memories of love which have turned sour over time. It questions what items we choose to carry with us through our lives and how we hold both the pain and warmth of our past.

Captured on both new and expired 16mm film, The Earth That Couldn’t Stand Still blurs the lines between love, heartache, and moving forward.

In the words of @sebastiano.pigazzi and @tinociatti:

Every fingerprint on this project and audience member reminds us that humanity remains at the core of entertainment. Nothing rivals live performance.

5/5 sold out shows, dedication from the entire team, a beautiful article from @americanjunglebaby and the @lasentinelnews
And one day, perhaps more... Quizás, Quizás, Quizás.

“Yeah, it’s ours.”❤️

Thank you to the entire WTWD team for one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. And thank you Sebastiano for believing in me as your Helen, when I wasn’t sure I was up to snuff. I’ll hold this experience in my heart forever.

To all the people that supported us through 5 sold out shows, we are immeasurably grateful.

Because of our amazing audiences, actors and this story, we sold out four shows and we have been EXTENDED!!!! This is major especially for a local, self-funded theatre production in LA!! Don’t tell me we don’t do theatre darling.
