2040 doesn’t start in 2040. It starts now. This election.

Too many politicians talk about 2040 like it’s some distant horizon we can worry about later. But 2040 isn’t waiting for us. The tamariki who’ll be raising whānau in 2040 are already here. The homes they’ll live in, the schools they’ll attend, the language they’ll speak, the climate they’ll inherit, and the opportunities they’ll have are being shaped by the choices we make today.

Every election is really a vote about the future. This one is no different.

If we wait until 2035 to think about what Aotearoa should look like in 2040, we’ve already failed. The future is built one Budget, one law, one investment, one decision at a time.

So when people ask what sort of country we want in 2040, what are we prepared to do right now?

For those of you who don’t get the 2040 reference, 1840 was the beginning. 2040 is our chance to show we’ve learned something. #1840 #2040 #tetiriti #nzpol #toitūtetiriti On plain black ground are the words 2040 Starts Now in white lettering

THROWBACK TO LAST WEEKEND ❤️‍🔥

We kicked the weekend off with a Pito-one run with @koroclub , then moved into our How to Enrol the Government voting education evening, powered by @terunangaotoa @ngahapuootaki @atiawakiwhakarongotai @ngatikahungunuiwi & Te Rūnanga o Te Āti Awa,

What a night.

The next day we were invited to Hongoeka Marae to trot with our Toa Rangatira whānau @terunangaotoa — and what a day that was too.

This one was epic our biggest turnout across all of our Move the Motu runs so far, with P-Town coming in extra hot🔥

And for our videographer, @patu_productionz , it was extra special. He was raised here, so being able to come home and stand alongside brothers, sisters, friends and whānau — helping make enrolling and voting more accessible — was a real honour.

That’s what Move the Motu is about. Hauora, Hōnongā Together for the vote.

21 days left to enrol to vote e te whanau! Lets mooove 🗳️

You’ve been out there enrolling your friends, whānau and communities, and it’s working! Over 30,000 people enrolled to vote in September. That’s more than August, and even better, the majority of them were 18-24! 🗳️

There are now only 24 days left for people to enrol or update their details. 2️⃣4️⃣

Need an extra push to do it now? If you enrol in the next couple days (before October 4), you’ll get an EasyVote card. You don’t need an EasyVote card to vote, but like it says in the name, it’ll make voting a little easier. ✅

Link in bio to enrol or check your details! 🔗

And lastly a reminder e te whānau:
1. Enrol. Get your people enrolled by midnight 25th October.
2. Plan. Make a plan with them to vote early, and help them find a voting place.
3. Vote. Support them to vote from 26th October. Check in with them until they’ve voted.
