Happy Saturday, Sunset Chasers!

I don’t know about you, but it was crazy windy at my house last night! We even lost power for a couple of hours in Escondido! Be safe out there, still high winds today!

Take a moment and enjoy this beautiful shot that Vladimir captured! If you could jet off anywhere, where would you go?

Today’s featured photographer is: @tisvlad

Thank you for tagging @sdsunsetchasers on your shot. Be sure to follow and tag us to be featured!

Please take a moment and give our featured artist some love and a follow.

From Sept. 25-27, crowds at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar watched the Navy's Blue Angels perform precision maneuvers, along with a Marine Corps MV-22 Osprey, a C-17 cargo plane, civilian aerobatic performers and more.

The Marine Air-Ground Task Force demonstration brought aircraft, troops and a towering “wall of fire” together for a simulated battlefield assault.

On the flight line, visitors could explore aircraft displays and meet the crews who fly and maintain them. Among the aircraft on the ground was a B-52 Stratofortress, which a group of USC Air Force ROTC cadets toured on Sunday.

Swipe through weekend sights captured by Oceanside photographer and longtime air show enthusiast Vlad Medvinsky.

Read more about the air show at the link in our bio.

OG Juice Beach Cleanup 🌊✊

For National Coastal Cleanup Day, @ogjuiceoceanside teamed up with some friends from the neighborhood and beyond such as @sidestreetbowlsandsmoothies @erisfoodco @flirtluxurylashlounge @blisslids @mainstreetoceanside @kailoapowers many others.

The cleanup didn’t only cover the Strand. The crew started by walking the surrounding streets and picking up in the areas that can easily get overlooked, before making their way down to the water.

It’s easy to think of coastal cleanup as just the stretch along the water, but keeping our coast clean starts throughout the neighborhood. ✊

Part I here. Part II from the Strand dropping in the next couple of days! 👀 Drop a comment and show some love to this crew out cleaning our streets 🫶🏻

Wowser! So many amazing photos and videos you guys tagged us in from the recent banger sunsets. I guess this heat and humidity is good for something. We could be set up for a banner sunset season.

Today’s featured photographer is always ready to capture a fire sunset. Check out this gem shot by Oceanside’s own @tisvlad! That pure SoCal right there. Nicely done, Vlad. Let the man know how nice this image is. 🙌🏽

We try to spread the love around to all the San Diego photographers that tag and follow @sdsunsetchasers.

Two years ago, I drove more than **3,500 miles chasing the April 8, 2024 total solar eclipse**… and came home with almost nothing.

Photographer Vladimar @tisvlad and I left California in my Sprinter van, originally heading toward the Rio Grande in Texas. When forecasts started showing clouds, we changed course for Dallas, where we met another photographer, John @wirelessweb

The morning of the eclipse, every forecast showed clear skies around Dallas. We found a beautiful spot on a lake, set up our tripods and calibrated our sky trackers. The eclipse began under a gorgeous, clear sky.

Then, about five minutes before totality, two small clouds appeared in the distance.

They were headed straight for us.

About 30 seconds before totality, the clouds joined together and completely covered the sun.

We could hear people screaming and cheering from the other side of the lake, just a few hundred yards away.

We experienced everything else, the sudden darkness in the middle of the afternoon, the temperature dropping, and frogs and crickets suddenly coming alive.

We just couldn't see the eclipse.

Then totality ended, daylight returned…and the clouds moved away. 😩

This is the only image I managed to capture through the clouds.

**Seven days. 3,500+ miles. One cloud at exactly the wrong moment.**

With a major storm and golf-ball-size hail approaching, we packed up and headed west.

Today, **August 12, 2026**, another total solar eclipse will cross parts of Greenland, Iceland, Russia, Spain and Portugal.

This time, I decided not to travel thousands of miles chasing it.

But even though I never actually saw totality in 2024, experiencing the world suddenly go dark in the middle of the day was something I'll never forget.

Sometimes you don't get the photograph, but you still get the experience.
