Every birth is violent!

As we draw our first breath, we spill blood and scream and claw at the air. And from that moment forward, we continue to fight.

We fight to live freely — as an individual, as a community, as a state, as a species. A stubbornness to not back down. It’s a fight that draws blood and it’s a fight that is in our blood.

It’s a fight that we’ve known since birth and will know until our death!

I’ve struggled to identify as an artist. I struggle even more to share my art. I do not find other artists pretentious, but I set this double standard for myself — I don’t think it is necessary for me to take up space by adding my commentary, especially to a topic where I have privilege or power.

But I want to embrace my art more, especially because I’m now an art teacher for kids. I want to care less about coming off as pretentious, because it’s the innate nature of art to call for attention. I want to make space for more art — real art and not the AI bullsht. I want to help others use art as an expression for emotions, values, cultures, ideologies, and identities.

I want to call myself an artist without shying away, because no matter how I feel about it, I am an artist!

Meet the muses of Metamorphic! + A curator's note from @tink_a.bink

During the curation of this show, it was essential to showcase a wide range of media. No two pieces are the same, no two artists are the same. What resulted is a collection of pieces chosen for their hidden, beautiful connections!

To see these beautiful works of art in person, visit @thehausofcollectives on Tuesday, March 31st (trans visibility day) from 12 pm - 8 pm. Tickets are in our bio (or the hand QR code). Together, 50% of proceeds will be donated to @blacktransliberation to support the incredibly beneficial work they do. Come celebrate trans visibility and kick off trans art fest 2026 @transartfest with us!!
