Dear Simone,

Wow! Girl, what a ride. We definitely learned a lot with this. The power of JOY, the weight of GREIF, the isolation of SHAME, the depths of DISAPPOINTMENT, and the possibility of RECONCILIATION. Families might not be perfect, but behind it all is everyone fighting to be seen, heard, loved, and known. Thank you for allowing me to be step into your shoes this summer for a quick praise break, mini brawl, and time to reflect.

Thank you for reminding me to be a more present big sister, a more patient daughter, to make time to see my elders because tomorrow ain’t promised, and affirm I’m on track to being the favorite auntie 😅.

Overall takeaway: as we dare to do better than our parents and grandparents, can we stand to create the brave spaces to have the uncomfortable conversations about the dark things?
Through it is truly the only way to heal it.

Thank you for the lessons 🫂✨

Untitled, my co-created playwrights lab @allstarsprojectinc supported the development of our 37th play with a reading of @daveanzuelo’s play TIGERS and we have to give love to our actors @pierrlito, @guadalisdc, @jla_irrefutable, Shawn Denegre-Vaught, @mor.glenn and @sean.fletcher.ny, as well as everyone who came out to support Dave’s process. Our community continues to grow and big thanks to @theatrerow for giving us a temporary home!
