If you’ve been thinking about joining your first photography tour, Bosque del Apache could be a great place to start. It’s close to home and easy to get to, with lots of opportunities to learn, try new things and play with your photography. With Traci as your leader, you’ll have support along the way while you learn to master master low light, sunrise and golden hour. If you are interested in taking your photography further this may be a great fist step.

Curiosity.
-
One of the more memorable moments from our last @focusphototours tour, with @tlsepkovic and our fantastic guests. It was interesting how curious this young polar bear was in our group and what we were doing. All of us sitting there, staring at him completely fascinated. While he sat there feeling exactly the same way. Without a doubt a moment I will never forget.
Enjoy.

A flash of red where the woods get tangled. Just a northern cardinal exactly where he belongs.

Our first close encounter with a polar bear this fall was a good one. Seeing these bears in the fall tundra was breath taking and hard to wrap your head around. Can’t wait to return.
Enjoy.

If birds are what make you grab your camera and lose track of time, maybe 2027 is the year you plan a trip around them.
Imagine photographing thousands of birds filling the skies at Bosque del Apache, searching for incredible northern owls in a winter landscape, or standing in the middle of the colour and chaos of Costa Rica’s hummingbirds.
And if the bird you’ve always dreamed of photographing isn’t on one of our scheduled tours… talk to us.
We also create custom photography tours, built around the species, destination and experience YOU want.
So here’s the question…
What bird is still on your photography bucket list?
Maybe it’s time to stop saying “one day.”
Give yourself something incredible to look forward to in 2027.

Deadliest milk mustache ever?
-
A polar bear cub, who coined the nickname “Curious George”,
came to check us out one evening and got a little more excited than he should’ve been. After taking a closer look at the photos and realizing he had been nursing just prior to our arrival. It’s in my professional opinion he was drunk off his mother‘s milk.

To say I’m thankful for moments like this, would be an extreme understatement. Being able to sit down with good people and watch the sunset over Hudson Bay with a family of polar bears, is just simply one of the coolest things I’ve ever been able to do. Grateful for @sstone_images @akreelgirl and my team @focusphototours for all of the amazing opportunities.
If you’ve been wanting to see Churchill for yourself, please contact us. You will not regret it!
Enjoy.

Photography tours can do more than create incredible images.
When tourism is done thoughtfully, it can support local guides, create jobs tied to healthy wildlife populations, contribute to protected areas, strengthen local conservation efforts, and help keep wild places valuable for generations to come.
That’s one of the reasons we care so much about who we work with, how we travel, and the choices we make in the field.
Because wildlife photography isn’t only about what we take home on our memory cards.
It can also be about what we leave behind.
Support for local communities.
Respect for wildlife.
Investment in wild places.
And a reason to keep protecting what brought us there in the first place.
Travel with purpose. Photograph with care.
What do you look for when choosing a photography tour?

Brown bears in black&white.
-
By far, my favorite photos are black&whites. I just think it looks so clean and elegant once printed. What do you guys think?
