“This is the best panel I’ve ever attended.” This past Thursday, we centered mental health and the human side of tech with Caring for the Mental Health of Your Team and Yourself at #SFTechWeek. 314 RSVPs, 59 interested, and so many personal messages about how much this topic matters. Our panelists shared real stories from leading through things that don’t resolve on a roadmap: • Showing up through a serious medical event, and what made it possible to keep working • Being the first to speak up, and making it safer for the next person • Being honest with teams about AI uncertainty without causing panic • How much of yourself you can bring to work, and what psychological safety actually looks like What stayed with me most was how many people told us afterward it helped them think through their own work situations and the future of their careers. The real-life impact is why we do this. Thank you to @hudliao, Gretchen Libby, Sonika Singal and Ahmad Zahran for your honesty. We couldn’t have done this without @hksyed and all the volunteers helping plan and set up this event. Most mental health advice assumes the hard thing ends. Sometimes it doesn’t. A war. A new diagnosis. Postpartum. And you still have a team depending on you. On October 8 in downtown San Francisco, tech leaders and founders talk about what they actually do, not what they’re supposed to say. Hudson Liao @asiansarestrong, Gretchen Libby @amazonwebservices, Sonika Singal @accenture. I’m moderating. More speakers announced soon. Free. Dinner, panel, tea, and real conversations. Part of #SFTechWeek, hosted with @asianmentalhealthproject and @todoish.app. Link in bio to RSVP. Bring someone who’s been carrying something quietly.
