Tnx Lobster Boys @0.1134_robin & @todorrab for a great show in our gallery space which was reconfigured into a stunning art fair presentation last week @nap.plus

“Lobster and shrimp on my plate, I need my pockets so fat they inflate” is a collaborative project by artists Robin Phoenix Whitehouse (UK) and Todor Rabadzhiyski (BG) that started in 2021 and delves into the culture and changing economy associated with lobsters.

In the fourth showcase (Vol. 4: Back of the Kitchen) of the project - for which the artists collaborated with Dürst Britt & Mayhew - the artists look specifically at the moment the lobster enters the restaurant kitchen, tracing the transformation of a sea creature into a symbol of status and celebration.

NAP+ in Amsterdam by @art.unlocked.official: much-loved favourites, new discoveries, and one unexpected phone call ☎️

This weekend, ART UNLOCKED founder @lana.filonava visited NAP+, a boutique art fair in Amsterdam, now in its third edition.

Seeing our ART UNLOCKED partner galleries from Amsterdam routes, shining in a completely different setting? Always a pleasure! ❤️ @madevankrimpen_, @galeriefontana, @martin_van_zomeren , and @stigtervandoesburg.

Experiencing artistic journeys first-hand 🎨: from Eric Giraudet de Boudemange @e_g_d_b and his wonderfully playful self-portrait masks to Adriaan Rees @adriaanrees and his transformative porcelain torsos (thanks for introducing me to Eduard Seer! 😊) to Robin and Todor - the artistic duo behind the gorgeous lobster project (thanks for the oysters 🦪🦞) at @durstbrittmayhew.

And then, at Rotterdam-based @galerievivid, our favourite gym metaphor came to life — quite literally! 💪 Who knew exercising your curiosity could be such a workout? Rotterdam, here we come! Stay tuned!

And the artwork that stayed with us the most? A telephone service. ☎️ Pick up the phone. Have a conversation. See where it takes you. The Line by The Department of Destruction, created by Shivani Gowda @beneaththepalatree and Kes Lugt @keslugt, offers a rather unusual service: a direct line to help you navigate the art world.

A twin project to ART UNLOCKED? Or perhaps a sign that we're not the only ones who believe the art world could use a little help becoming more accessible? Either way, we love it! ❤️

An artwork that invites you to ask questions, challenges the way we experience art, and turns a simple conversation into an artistic encounter. Did we call? Of course we did!

At @art.unlocked.official , we believe that contemporary art doesn't have to come with all the answers. Sometimes, the most interesting part is simply starting a conversation.

Thank you, @nap.plus, for a day full of art, curiosity, and new connections!
Same time next year? Already in our calendar!

Today is the final day of NAP+ 2026. Among this year’s presentations is Dürst Britt & Mayhew, presenting works by Robin Phoenix Whitehouse and Todor Rabadzhiyski.

Their ongoing collaborative project Lobster and shrimp on my plate, I need my pockets so fat they inflate traces the lobster’s transformation from food associated with poverty to a symbol of luxury and status. Drawing partly on their own experiences working in seafood restaurants, the artists explore labour, value, consumption, and transformation through painting, sculpture, video, and installation.

Join us for one last day at the Centrale Markthal.

A closer look at the themes from our hosts, guiding us and their guests during our three days with @nap.plus at pos, this Friday till Sunday.

With @_._k.w.e.e.n_._ , we ask how artists and curators imagine and examine questions of belonging, migration, community and diaspora: who gets to belong somewhere, and how does art express the search for a place to call home with ‘Somewhere to Call Home’ on Friday 18/09.

@lulaluna____ we try to answer the question: How does contemporary art respond to systems of power, surveillance and social control, and how do artists use their own bodies as political statements? With ‘Art & the Political Body’. On Saturday 19/09 we turn the lens on the art world itself: who determines what gets shown, who receives funding, and whose perspective shapes the narrative?

With @deborah__x__ , we uncover how contemporary art returns to folkloric traditions, rituals and the liminality of imagination, and how artists, curators and researchers question the relationship between humanity, nature and pre-colonial lessons of guardianship, during Roots to Rites. Ecology, Folklore & the Imagination on Sunday 20/09.

Step into our live broadcast, from 18/09-20/09 as part of the art fair at possibility open studio in Centrale Markhal, or tune in on Echobox.radio.

@todorrab & @0.1134_robin trace the lobster’s journey from sea to kitchen to reveal the hidden systems of labour and power behind luxury.

We are happy to welcome Dürst Britt & Mayhew to NAP+ 2026, presenting works by Robin Phoenix Whitehouse and Todor Rabadzhiyski. Their ongoing collaborative project Lobster and shrimp on my plate, I need my pockets so fat they inflate traces the shifting culture and economy surrounding the lobster — from food for the poor to a symbol of luxury and status.
