Practice Lab with Cai Glover | Poetics of Movement (link in bio) when March 27, 2026 at 1:00-3:00pm ET where The Railpath Arts Centre 35 Golden Ave, Toronto, ON M6R 2J4 accessibility The Railpath Arts Center has an accessible entrance and the studios and washrooms are accessible to wheelchair and mobility device users. The closest public transportation are the 506 and 505 streetcars, with stops at Dundas West & Sorauren Ave or Howard Park. There will be 2 ASL Interpreters at the session. about the session This all-levels session will explore transposing of language into movement. How does the body express specific meanings of language? Is there something more that is captured when the body engages in motion that canโ€™t be grasped by the literal? This session doesnโ€™t focus on dance techniques but rather, focuses on the individual's emotional experiences to bring meaning to the movement we create. We will be using some ASL (American Sign Language) to get more fully and directly into the body by exploring a gestural and spatial language. Here the body discovers its vast network of communicative powers in a non-verbal form, abstracted by poetry and enhanced by meaning. about the artist Cai Glover is a Montreal-based dance artist, choreographer, and artistic director whose work foregrounds the poetics of movement, language, and embodied identity. Glover explores how language and gesture might be transformed into an embodied movement vocabulary, using the dancing body to probe questions of meaning, perception, and social dynamics. His work investigates the politics of disability, Deaf culture, and sensory experience as sources of artistic poetics and identity. A Deaf artist, hearing differently has shaped both his creative approach and aesthetic voice, giving rise to performances and research that unsettle conventional sensory hierarchies in dance. pricing Regular pricing for Practice Lab is $25. We strive to provide PWYC access, varied accessibility measures, and a welcoming environment. Love-In offers a pwyc sliding scale by using the discount codes. You can find details below to help you decide how much to pay.

It was such an honour to teach a 3-day workshop at @tolovein , sharing years of soul-research rooted in somatic, energetic, and spiritual practices. The experience of witnessing artists show up fully, learn deeply, and blossom in such beautiful ways reminded us why we do what we do. Not that long ago, our work was often dismissed by gatekeepers in the dance field. To now be invited to teach at such a reputable dance organization in the countryโ€™s largest city is a milestone that means so much โ€” a testament to trusting the vision, doing the work, and staying grounded in purpose. One of our guiding dreams is to help create dance spaces that are inclusive, expansive, and healing โ€” places that nourish the soul and remind us what it means to be human. As we shared in the final class, dance is not just an art form โ€” itโ€™s sacred work, tracing back thousands of years. Weโ€™re honoured to continue this lineage with the host organization. On the final day of the workshop, we also got to celebrate @soar55 Sammyโ€™s 40th birthday with a deeply somatic and spiritual journey โ€” one filled with love, light, and meaningful connection. The group dove deep. Tears, transformation, and reconnection to humanity flowed. We ended the day sharing a beautiful vegan meal and a spontaneous park gathering with friends in Toronto. It was a moment of quiet joy and deep gratitude. We felt truly taken care of by the host organization โ€” they radiate so much love and care for us, the community, and the deeper value of dance. Itโ€™s rare and amazing to be hosted by such wise, generous, open-minded people who are actively fostering the kind of space weโ€™ve longed for and making a real impact. Huge thank you to Toronto Dance Love-In โค๏ธ With all the love thatโ€™s been poured into us, weโ€™re ready to do the final sprint to premier our new production at @summerworksfun 35th edition!
