The session mix from Brian Buttlett is now available via SoundCloud, Mixcloud and YouTube, all found at the same handle: @streaminginprocess.

A special note from Brian Buttlett on the mix:

"The objective of this track is to emulate a Rust Belt-balearic sunrise-to-sunset on the “summery beach” of Rochester Pride; a precursor of energy build to the inevitable joyful chaos in the weekend. Warm tones, brightness, genres that inspire my sound including trance, jazz, Chicago house, nu-disco, electronica, breaks, and reworks of pop classics.

80-90% of this mix’s selection is a heartfelt homage to my Rochester and Western NY DJ family over the years: each track was either played by a friend in one of their formative sets, shared to me or listened to together, or built into a core memory of mine that we experienced.

It all comes together seamlessly in this tapestry of sound that celebrates my artistry, my love for those that inspire and contribute so much in me, and this very special mid-July weekend we all look forward to every year."

When Hannah asked if Donnie and I wanted to help with the party, I was so burnt out from grad school and just needed something fun. We also didn’t want another Rochester party to come to an end (especially Donnie just built the table for it). After three years of going to superfun, I’d be thinking: “What kind of party do we need here?”

The first step was to clean the space and install window tints to block out the outside and create a sense of private belonging. Then we got to work designing the lighting. We wanted something that felt genuinely ‘cool’, so Donnie and I drew inspiration from many queer parties in Rochester and Buffalo, and together we brought this first build to life.

Dimensions picks up where body language left off, carrying forward that goal of being a neutral space for all queer people. And like I told my friends — this isn’t about competing with others, it’s about filling a need. We need some sort of underground parties where ‘us’ can dance freely. That’s exactly why we decided to plan our party 11-4 for the community. We gave it a try.

Honestly? I had no idea who was going to show up or what it was going to look like. But I was so happy seeing friends who had never been to superfun before, and friends who aren’t even night owls but still came out to show their love and support. When I saw the crowd size in the outdoor area at 2 in the morning, it was just genuinely beautiful.

Thank you to everyone who came out, to all the friends who talked with me and helped along the way, and to the special friends who helped and made this party actually came true. A huge thank you to Stephanie, whose musical talent is pure magic. Last but not least, thank you to Hannah and most supporting husband Donnie for creating this amazing memory together.

hope I made you feel real nice.🖤
