Six months ago I dialed a number I found on a website and took a long-shot it the dark.
A voice answered after 3 rings and life would never be the same again. Thank you @brian_mctear for answering the call that day.

It’s been an incredible honor to help my
my longtime friend and music business partner, Mutlu, bring a collection of songs he wrote in his darkest hours to the brilliant, sound wizards at @minerstreetrecordings

The experience of hearing Mutlu’s smooth, soulful voice supported by some of Philadelphia’s indie rock darlings has been life-affirming. What began as a lofty dream during the pandemic, turned into something real when they started recording in March of this year.

I remember asking, what would it sound like if a soul singer like Mutlu blended his voice with indie rock music? Would it be a new genre?
I don’t know how you’ll define this sound.
Right now I’m calling it Cosmic Indie Soul.
Call it what you will, all I know is it’s the most vulnerable and powerful music Mutlu has ever recorded.
A sound like this could only come from a voice steeped in the sounds of Philly that die hard when you know what’s in the soil.

Insightful folks will differentiate as they like to do, and I’m excited to hear what they think when they listen to something this excellent and true.

The Mad King was produced by Brian McTear & Amy Morrissey at Miner Street Recordings.

Here's a non-AI generated flyer of actual humans partying like it's 1999.

If you need live music as much as we do right now, then lets get together, raise the spirits, raise some hell and do this thing.

Two shows coming up in September. One with the band, one solo acoustic.

I've been writing like mad and working on the new record so I've got some new songs I can't wait to play for you.

Bring it!

And it shall be brought in return.

Saturday, September 12th - Broken Goblet Bensalem, PA. (Band show) @brokengobletmusicroom

Saturday, September 19th - The Listening Booth Lewes, Delaware. (Solo Acoustic) @listeningboothlewes

We live in a moment when it’s hard not to feel consumed by an ominous sense of unease. I think about this every day. I try to envision a time that feels more hopeful and unified as we all navigate the constant uncertainty of chaos.

When everything feels heavy, music provides a singular, healing form of catharsis. I write, I sing, and it helps.
I wrote this song a few months ago and it lifted me up.
I hope it does the same for you.

I’m excited to announce the release of my new single, “The Mad King”. The song is a reflection on the current societal landscape.

I worked with an incredible group of talented people on this track. I was honored to bring my songs to them and they elevated the very nature of what it means to create magic in a room.

‘The Mad King’ was produced by Brian McTear & Amy Morrissey at Miner Street Recordings. @minerstreetrecordings

The track features:

Charlie Hall (The War On Drugs) - Drums & Percussion

Robbie Bennett (The War On Drugs) - Keyboards & Synths

Tom Spiker - Bass

Brian McTear - Electric Guitar

Amy Morrissey, Brian McTear and Delia Amendolia - Backing Vocals

This is the first single off a new album that I’ll be releasing later this year so stay tuned…and Stay Free My Goose.

“The Mad King” is available now on all streaming platforms!
