We recorded Hompulon at Ibeam this year. Was dreamy. It’s on the streams. There is now a studio duo record and a live sextet. Same material, two approaches. Dana Lyn, Tom Spiker, Jonathan Goldberger, Brian Drye, Tim Keiper. Matt Glassmeyer. Each piece has a thread holding together the free, but the thread changes between pieces—a form, a melody, a ser of instructions, a set of changes. #improvisedmusic #takingturns by @tom_spiker

Hompulon (Recorded Live) RELEASED
Trio show: Nov 5. Urban Cowboy Nashville

On May 4 of 2025, Hompulon brought a ton of nice gear into Ibeam in Gowanus and recorded the book of music.

Today we release the recording to you, live and real and raw. The previous studio duo recording with Tom and Matt playing the instruments versus the live sextet with these personalities are two very different sides of a uniquely-shaped coin. Wide-open improvisation is wrapped around distinct motifs and suggestions. Some of these tunes are written pages, some are merely a very loose feel and a suggested concept. “Play a line, settle on a pitch. The others grab the pitch.”

Matt Glassmeyer, Wurlitzer, reedless tenor, percussion @meadownoise
Tom Spiker, bass VI, loops, programming @tom_spiker
Dana Lyn, violin @nydanalyn
Brian Drye, trombone @dryebone
Tim Keiper, percussion, drumset @eclipticalia
Jonathan Goldberger, guitar @jgoldberger

Undercarriage is 20! Shout out to @mummydiamonds.. James’ Buffalo Roam record was the Guinea pig back in May ‘05. We were still moving in while tracking.. I still have the same @ribbonmics r84 that we used on everything back then. Gotta give credit to @dwfearn_hazelriggindustries as well for deturding my front end. Turds belong in the back. HMU to book @ the 2005 rates! taken in Northern Liberties by @tom_spiker
