Also playing this coming Monday, the trio project of powerhouse bassist Jacques Emery - SOFT ATTACK!

Jacques Emery - double bass
Novak Manojlovic - piano
Tom Avgenicos - trumpet

Soft Attack is a modern chamber jazz trio led by double bassist Jacques Emery, featuring close collaborators Novak Manojlovic on piano and keyboards and Thomas Avgenicos on trumpet and effects.

The lush acoustic core of the ensemble is augmented with electronics by each member, expanding the sound-world in subtle and unexpected ways. Warping and fragmenting Emery’s restrained compositions, the band arrives in a sonic landscape somewhere between ECM jazz, folk tunes, and dream pop.

When I wrote October 14 I didn’t know it wouldn’t be called that yet, but I feel like the monotonous nature of the piece reflects how I felt on the day that the Indigenous Voice referendum didn’t pass - totally stuck. There’s so much more to be done for our First Nations people. This track features @tomavgenicos, who played an absolutely beautiful solo.

This Tuesday night, October 6th, I'll be playing duo with Cass Pyc for the first time: a new collaboration featuring both of our extended instrumental worlds, and exploring our shared curiosity with resonance, rattles and moments of rest.

It'll be a huge, eclectic and very special night of music with Truffle Boils (Peter Farrar, Sam Dobson, Tom Avgenicos and Jodie Michael) + Sam Gill and Phillippa Murphy-Haste also performing.
