PROUD MAMA MOMENT! You may recall Gillian. Almost three years ago, Josephine told me about Gillian and I offered to help. Her Mom died from AIDS, her father is very ill with HIV. She had been out of school for a couple of years because of the extreme poverty in Rusinga Island.

We got her back in school—I started paying her school fees to attend a secondary school for girls. She has studied and worked so hard! She completed her senior year this past November and today we found out SHE PASSED HER NATIONAL EXAMS WITH A B!

SHE WILL BE GOING TO UNIVERSITY IN SEPTEMBER TO BE A NURSE!! This has been her dream—she wants to help individuals like her parents so they can be healthy again! I am so incredibly proud of her— she has focused and worked so hard for us! The national exams in Kenya are not easy by any means and are necessary to pass in order to go to university. When she hasn’t been in school she has been volunteering at our school and orphanage for the younger kids in RI—a great mentor for the younger children!

This is a perfect example of how one person can make a difference!

I really want to thank Josephine for being her mom/encourager/caregiver/teacher! Tom for also encouraging her, especially in the medical field and Asha for being a wonderful role model for her and advocating for girls education!

This is how cycles of poverty and oppression are broken! ❤️❤️❤️

So thrilled to receive these beautiful letters from the Kenya kids today! Check out how beautiful their penmanship is, and how wonderful their English is! I’m so excited to share these with my students tomorrow! Sponsors… Send me a message and I will send you a picture of the letter from your student! ❤️❤️❤️🇰🇪

We are super excited that our older girls will have the opportunity to visit a girls boarding school this week in which they will see opportunities for secondary education as well as learn about menstruation and receive supplies.

We could definitely use some help with the transportation expenses!

We are also running low on basic few food supplies. World Vision provided basics such as rice and cornmeal for a couple months, but they haven’t been back for a while now. Any contributions would help!

Thank you all for your support of these beautiful children!

Asante Sana to everyone who helped make it possible for these wonderful children to get new shoes! Most if The children in the orphanage & school we help haven’t gotten new shoes since our first sponsorship drive in May 2021– you can imagine how worn they were, and how much they had outgrown them. They are so incredibly grateful as you can see!

We have come so far, But there is always tremendous need for the kids there. From shoes, to uniforms, to underwear, socks, medicine, vaccinations, food, school supplies, etc.

If you would like to help more kids in the orphanage get new shoes or help contribute to any of the other expenses, no amount is ever too small! As you can see, Josephine and Tom always send me pictures and receipts of anything that is purchased. I can promise you that 100% of the money goes directly to the kids as I send all money directly to them. ❤️🇰🇪🇰🇪 #kidswillbekids #allkidsdeserveshoesandmuchmore
