POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Tone Deaf Records @tonedeafrecs built its identity around the owner's teenage years digging through Bay Area punk record stores in the 90s — DIY aesthetic, underground focus, live bands playing in the shop. The dollar-bin section is a deliberate draw: staff sometimes slip $10-20 records into the pile just to keep regulars excited about what they might find.

People LOVE them, even if the records aren't in the best shape, people will take a chance or three on a record that costs a buck.

Prussing families, let's show our neighborhood businesses some love!

This Saturday, September 19, head over to Lawrence Avenue for Sip & Shop Jeff West from 11 AM to 5 PM!

There will be plenty for the whole family to enjoy, including local food, shopping, live entertainment, book readings, and even some special Disney guests!

Our neighborhood small businesses do so much to support our schools and community. This is a great opportunity for us to return the favor!

Grab the kids, invite your neighbors, and spend a little time (and maybe a few dollars!) supporting the businesses that make our community special.

Shop local. Support our neighbors. Keep Jefferson Park thriving!

Shoegazers, @funusbandofficial debut LP 'Dreamless Water' is back in stock, now reaching North America through Chicago's @tonedeafrecs

Originally out on the label @noon.records, the album is pressed on heavyweight black-blue transparent marble vinyl with 4-colour centre labels. Tone Def Records has picked up Noon's 12" catalogue for North American distribution, so this is a proper domestic restock rather than another import run. Funus work in that space where post metal and shoegaze overlap, dense and heavy but still built around atmosphere.

This restock is part of Tone Def taking on Noon Records' full 12" catalogue for North American distribution, so expect more of the label's titles to turn up stateside going forward.

Tracklist:
1. Dreamless Water
2. Still Circling Downwards
3. Between Futures and Shadows
4. Caged Liberty
5. Hum of Nothing
6. Neon Loneliness
7. Fractured Calm
8. Where the Heart Sleeps
9. Across the Bridge of Echoes

TONE DEAF PICK OF THE DAY: Hulder “Verbolgen” (20 Buck Spin) ~ The third full-length from PNW black metal artist Hulder is here & its heavy curtain of doom-laden black metal is as crushing as ever (maybe even more so!) Intro song “Drie Raven” rolls in like a dense fog, its folky finger-picking belies the crushing weight to come, as the album’s additional eight songs bludgeon you into submission. “Verbolgen” is a step forward for Belgian-born Marliese Osborne; her previous two albums as Hulder have been essentially a solo affair, but this album brings long-time session member Necreon into the group full-time and features long-time live guitarist Keld & live drummer Vapula, as well as (notably) Aeternus drummer Vrolok! (Aeternus member Morrigan also created the album’s cover art, her first since the early Aeternus albums, about 30 years ago!) This one absolutely crushes, & we have the silver vinyl version ready & waiting to join your collection. RECOMMENDED! (Bill)
