A towering medieval gatehouse hiding centuries of secrets... Did a whispered betrayal echo through these very stone arches long ago, or is a modern-day mystery about to unfold beneath them? 🏰🔍
Standing before the ancient barbican of Lewes Castle, one can almost picture the scene: a sudden hush in the bustling Sussex air, a cryptic clue dropped by a passing traveler, and a web of intrigue just waiting to be untangled. Even the sternest portcullis couldn’t keep a clever detective out of this story.

The First Thing to Melt.
Ice cream is one of the few joys that teaches its lesson before you’ve even taken the last bite.
It arrives already disappearing.
No matter how carefully you hold it, it begins to surrender—to warmth, to gravity, to time. Children race against it with laughter. Adults, though they may not realize it, are racing against something else entirely: the quiet understanding that nothing beautiful stays exactly as it is.
Perhaps that is why we love it.
A flower asks us to admire it.
A painting asks us to contemplate it.
But ice cream asks only one thing:
Be here.
It cannot be saved for another afternoon. It cannot be postponed until life is less busy. It insists that delight belongs to the present moment.
And maybe that’s why every melting scoop feels strangely nostalgic. It reminds us of summer afternoons that no longer exist, of sticky fingers held by someone taller than us, of conversations on park benches, of sunsets we didn’t know were becoming memories.
Ice cream is not merely dessert.
It is proof that the sweetest things in life were never meant to last forever—they were meant to be enjoyed before they melt, and remembered long after they are gone.

Thank you to @housesketcher Albert Kiefer for the rendering technique discussed in the @sketching_retreat titled “Color your Sketch Alive” hosted by @david_drazil The sketches done in line drawings were made by Albert and the rendering part of the workshop exercise , is the actual drill.

@bernardsombret , This is late but challenge is accepted. I reimagined the house and gave it a remodeled look. #bernardsartschallenges29. Drawing from a Front Elevation or Facade style. Replaced the ironwork and even the front door awning. Added the car upfront. And Frances McDormand from the The Wes Anderson, The French Press. Thank you, it was a lot of fun doing this challenge. #art #france #drawitinyourstyle #drawing #drawdrawdraw #drawings

This is my go on @tonettesketcher ‘s challenge #tonettesketcher_rosemanbridge with @nikkiwestenberg ‘s lighthouse photo!
Thank you very much!!😁
.
.

I’ve recently got a new brainwave of drawing Stormy skies and stormy seas, so I drew another one here.
.
The LMFS( stands for Literally Medival Flagged Ship ) Warrior was on an expedition to shart the movements of the Kraken, when it git hit by a nasty storm and it was in a super dangerous position when it caught sight of a rocky island through the rain because of the UltraLED light coming out ofnthe lighthouse. So the ship turned towards it but almost ended up banging into the rocks when the kraken saved it by protecting it with it’s tentacles.
.
Therefore the lighthouse island was awared the Literally Excellent Day award, or the LED award, because of it’s LED light. And the Warrior ended up finding the Kraken and brought home a whole bunch of scientific facts about the Kraken, one of which is that the Kraken can be seen as a more sophisticated and bigger brnach of the Giant Squid.
.
Moral 1 : LED is great!
Moral 2 : However, it might cause the sailors of the ship to focus only on the light and not on the island when in a lighthouse, and may cause the ship to crash.
Moral 3 : Therfore, LED is great... sometimes!

will not be there, Don @the.curious.sketcher . For obvious reasons...🙄☹️ all will be safe, you may come whenever you want!
she is slightly annoyed, though, but as she normally does not break the law, she will have to go somewhere else... 🤓
@tonettesketcher and @kirana.kirei you are doing a good job to protect this beautiful covered bridge!
