Onsen (Japanese Spa) o felt nostalgically affected with the bathhouse of Spirited Away and would always associate that animation with Onsens. #drawings #drawingsketch #drawingsofinstagram #sketch #sketches #sketchdaily #sketchaday #illustrations #illustrationsketch #instasketch #style #instaart #illustrationoftheday #travel #nature #love #instalove #lnstadaily#instagood #fashion#photooftheday#beautiful#art#photography#happy#picoftheday#cute#summer#fun#amazing by @tonettesketcher

It’s one of the bookstores you’ll want to check out in Paris , I’ve been there several times every time I am in the Vicinity. There was a time it was used as a film setting for The Movie Before Sunset (Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy). It also has a place to sleep for a weary traveler if you don’t mind sleeping in a roomful of Books . I always loved their “quote” painted on top of one of their doorway saying “ Be Hospitable to Strangers, They could be angels in Disguise” Now, they even have a cafe beside the Bookstore, when I visited last year in June. One of the iconic spots near the Latin Quarter. #trinketsetc #drawthisinyourstyle

If these objects could speak, they would not tell history as dates and battles. They would tell it as memory—what it felt like to exist through the hands, hopes, fears, and dreams of the people who once held them. Together they whisper...
“Do not think of us as relics imprisoned behind museum glass. We are mirrors.”
“You marvel at what ancient hands created, yet your own hands are no less capable.”
“One day, someone will hold the objects you leave behind and wonder who you were. They will not remember your wealth or your titles. They will remember what you chose to build, what beauty you preserved, and what kindness you left echoing through the centuries.”
“History is not the past.”
*”It is the conversation between those who came before... and those willing to listen.”

The Greek Village
“I was never built to impress kings. I was built for ordinary miracles.”
Every dawn, my doors opened to the scent of bread and sea salt. Children chased each other over my stone paths while grandmothers watched from blue balconies. Travelers remember my beauty, but I remember voices. Every wall you admire has listened to laughter, grief, weddings, and goodbyes. Paint fades, but echoes never do.

The Minoan Ship
“I taught islands to become neighbors.”
Long before maps were drawn, I stitched civilizations together with waves. I carried olive oil, wine, pottery, stories, languages, and dreams. Every voyage risked storms because curiosity has always outweighed fear. Civilizations are not built by walls; they are built by journeys.

The Minoan Ceramics
“I held more than wine.”
Within my clay rested harvests, sacred oils, perfumes, and the labor of entire seasons. Fingers shaped me while conversations drifted through workshops. They believed they were making a vessel. They were preserving a way of life. Even now, every crack across my surface is simply another line in my autobiography.

The Ostrich Egg Bottle
“Fragility became my greatest strength.”
People marveled that something so delicate could carry precious oils across the sea. I remind you that what appears fragile often survives because it is treated with reverence. The strongest things are by @tonettesketcher

From this quiet bend along the Carrera del Darro, the Alhambra appears to float above a sea of cypress and olive trees, its reddish walls giving rise to one of Spain’s most enduring legends. The name Alhambra is thought to derive from the Arabic al-Qal’a al-Hamra—“The Red Fortress”—a reference to the warm hue of its rammed-earth walls, which seem to ignite at sunset.
But the view hides as much as it reveals. Behind those seemingly austere walls lies an astonishing world of geometry, hidden courtyards, whispering fountains, and inscriptions that repeat a single refrain throughout the palaces: “There is no victor but God.” More than 9,000 times, this Nasrid motto is woven into stucco, tile, and carved cedar ceilings, turning architecture itself into a silent act of devotion.
Standing here, it’s easy to understand why generations of travelers have lingered on the Carrera del Darro. The palace doesn’t demand attention—it rewards patience. The longer you look, the more the fortress becomes less a relic of empire and more a reminder that the greatest wonders often conceal their richest stories behind the simplest facades. taken in Carrera del Darro by @tonettesketcher

When she turned them into Pigs 🐷 🐖 🐽 In Greek mythology, Aeaea is a mythical island covered in lush woods and flowers. It is the home of the goddess-sorceress Circe. The island is populated by tame lions and wolves. These beasts are actually sailors who arrived before Odysseus and were transformed by Circe’s magic. When Odysseus’s crew landed on the island, Circe fed them a potion mixed with wine, cheese, barley, and honey, then tapped them with her wand to turn them into swine.Odysseus avoided the curse by using a magical herb called moly, which was given to him by the messenger god Hermes. He later forced Circe to change his crew back into humans. taken in Aeaea by @tonettesketcher

I have learned that some places do not simply welcome you once—they keep calling you back until you’ve become a little more capable of seeing them. Santorini was that place for me. I stood here first in 2016, and then again in 2022, only to realize that while the island had remained beautifully itself, I had quietly changed.
There is something almost impossible about the way the whitewashed houses cling to the cliffs, as though light itself had chosen to build a village. Beyond them, the Aegean stretches into an endless blue so deep it humbles every thought you brought with you. It is the kind of beauty that doesn’t demand applause; it simply asks you to become still enough to receive it.
This artwork is my way of returning once more. To the winding paths, the brilliant white walls glowing beneath the Mediterranean sun, and the profound peace that settled over me as I gazed toward the sea. Some landscapes become memories. Others become part of your inner geography. Santorini, for me, became both. taken in Santorini, Greece by @tonettesketcher

There are moments that linger in memory long after time passes.
I first stepped into the cathedrals of Toulouse in 2010. Beneath soaring Gothic vaults, where centuries of prayer have softened the silence, I paused to offer a quiet prayer of my own. The rich brick architecture, unique to southern France, glowed gently in the filtered light, while the immense nave and intricate details spoke of a faith that has endured through wars, restorations, and the passing of generations.
Later, I wandered through the cloisters, where time seemed to slow to a whisper. I remember distinctly how peaceful it was—only a handful of visitors sharing that sacred stillness, each quietly honoring the serenity of the place. It felt less like visiting a monument and more like stepping into a sanctuary where history, art, and silence had learned to coexist.
This is my way of returning to that moment—a reminder that some journeys remain with us, not because of where they took us, but because of who we became while we were there.#usktoulouse #toulouse#drawingtoulouse #cathedralesantetienne #france taken in Cathédrale Saint-Étienne de Toulouse by @tonettesketcher
