When Cape Town serves you up no wind on the weekend there is no excuse to not bomb into the Cape Point national Park!

Perfect morning of riding with only 2 cars spotted in 3 hours.

Cape Town’s Tony Lotter has officially gone five-for-five at The Ceder - four times on the 240km route and the 150km last year.🏆🚴

For him, the Cederberg delivers the full package: remote, rugged, and guaranteed to test whatever riding ability you think you have. He says Uitkyk Pass hits hard in the race, but reaching the top and looking back at the road you’ve just come up is one of those “okay, that was worth it” moments.

His standout memory is still the inaugural event, even in the snow. It was his first-ever gravel race, the distance felt terrifying, and he and @‌becksabbey rode it together and ended up having an incredible day out there. 🌼

Thank you for being a part of The Ceder each year Tony. 💪

2025 Gravel Tour with the Boys
📈 6 days, just over 800 km’s & 11 000m elevation

🤩 Day 1: George - Uniondale 172km
- one of the most scenic routes one can do

↗️ Day 2: Uniondale - Prince Albert 153km
- the undercover hard day

🥵 Day 3: Prince Albert - Van Wyksdorp 138km
- the day Tony died in the 40 degree temperatures, I had one brake down Rooiberg and we ended the ride in the middle of nowhere.

💃 Day 4: Van Wyksdorp - Heidelberg 111km
- The recovery/perfect weather day for an evening jol

🌧️ Day 5: Heidelberg - Robertson 121km
- the day the rain started, we bought Pep jackets, David cried & Tony almost rented a car

🏠 Day 6: Robertson - Ceres 113km
- ah, the headwind home

Some of the notable passes we traversed included the 7 passes, Prince Alfred’s pass (personal favourite), Meiringspoortpass, Swartberg Pass, Rooiberg Pass & Sleeping Beauty Pass

One of the harder things I’ve done, but I would 10 out of 10 times do it all over again

Easily one of the most incredible adventures one can do. If you own a gravel bike (or don't) this simply HAS TO get onto your bucket list.

It starts with building your bike in the Geroge airport, cycling out into the dark of night to your first nights accomodation followed by 6 days of the most magical and beautiful gravel terrain you likely to see. Iconic passes, amazing people, unexpected swims and tons of banter in between till you arrive back in Cape Town 6 days later.

Join Zack and I on the latest podcast where we relive some of these incredible memories made on the annual mid life crisis gravel tour from George to Cape Town. Planned by @thathoffie and the tiger @tonylotter made fashionable by Zack (not on the gram) and descended at light speed by @chloebishop .

Full video is on YouTube, please remember to like and subscribe so we can keep these stories rolling :)
