I’ve watched this recap more times than I can count, and every time I do, I notice something different. At first I was looking at the details, the room, the setup, everything I spent months planning. But the more I watched it, the more I realized my eyes weren’t drawn to any of that. I found myself watching the conversations, the hugs, the smiles, the moments where women were fully present with one another. While I was hopping around trying to stay out of the way to make sure everything was happening, there were so many moments I didn’t even realize were unfolding.

I think that’s what has stayed with me the most. I didn’t just want to gather women in a room for brunch. I wanted to creat a space. Space to slow down, to breathe, to connect, to reflect, and to simply be. In a world that celebrates constantly doing more, there was something so powerful about watching women choose to pause.

One thing I’ve continued to think about since the brunch is the conversation Jeanette and I had during our fireside chat on The Pause & Healing. It made me realize how often we talk about getting “back to ourselves” after we’ve been through something difficult, but maybe that was never the goal. When your skin heals, it doesn’t become the old skin again. It becomes new skin. It’s different because it healed. Maybe we’re the same way. Maybe healing was never supposed to return us to who we were. Maybe it was always meant to introduce us to the version of ourselves we could only become because we chose to pause.

As I watch this recap, I can’t help but wonder how many women left that room carrying something different than they walked in with. I know I did.

Thank you to every woman who trusted Grace & Grit enough to show up. Thank you to every speaker, volunteer, vendor, and person who helped make this day possible. Watching this back reminds me that Grace & Grit has never been about hosting events. It’s about creating moments that leave a mark long after the room is empty.

I can’t wait to see where we go from here. 💕

@graceandgrit_ Power in the Pause. 🧡

One of the conversations I had after the Grace & Grit Brunch was about anxiety.

Not every anxious moment is meant to be pushed through. Sometimes the healthiest thing we can do is walk away from the people, places, or situations that keep hurting us.

But sometimes… the anxiety is standing between us and the person we’re becoming.

Speaking in front of that room of women was one of those moments for me.

With each of my cardiac arrest episodes, I’ve become quieter. More cautious. More reserved than the woman so many people remember. For a long time, I avoided crowds, the spotlight, and sharing this part of my story because it felt too heavy to carry out loud.

But this weekend reminded me that I haven’t lost all of myself.

My heart for people is still here. My desire to encourage others is still here. My purpose is still here.

One of the panelist spoke about grieving the loss of someone you love. It made me think about how I’ve also been grieving the version of myself I used to be.

That’s a different kind of grief that many don’t speak about or even have language for.

You look the same. You live in the same house. You love the same people. But you don’t always feel like the same person. There are days it feels like I’m stepping into someone else’s life, learning to be a softer wife, a quieter friend, someone who asks for help instead of always being the helper.

For a while, I kept wondering when I’d finally get to the “after.”

The after the trauma.
The after the healing.
The after where everything feels normal again.

Maybe there isn’t an “after.”

Maybe life isn’t about returning to who we were.

Maybe it’s about becoming…again and again.

And maybe that’s where the real power in the pause has been all along. In the becoming!

What if healing isn’t finding your way back to the old you… but giving yourself permission to become someone new?

What part of yourself or your life are you learning to grieve and what parts are you learning to embrace?

I’m still on cloud 9. 🤍

I’ve spent the last few days replaying Saturday over and over again, and I honestly don’t know if I’ll ever have the words to fully describe what it meant.

Watching women walk through those doors, embrace one another, laugh together, share openly, and leave feeling lighter… that’s exactly what I prayed for.

Grace & Grit has never been about hosting another event. From the very beginning, my heart has been to build a community where women feel seen, encouraged, and reminded that they don’t have to carry everything on their own.

Seeing complete strangers become friends, hearing the conversations around the room, watching women take notes, nod in agreement, wipe away tears, and smile so big… it was a reminder that God exceeded every expectation I had.

To every speaker, vendor, volunteer, sponsor, and every single woman who chose to spend your Saturday with us….THANK YOU!! Thank you for believing in this vision and helping bring it to life.

My heart is so full, and I’m incredibly grateful for what God did in that room. If Saturday taught me anything, it’s that this is only the beginning.

I’m Still smiling. I’m So grateful. & Still on cloud 9. ☁️🤍

More posts coming soon!! My vendors, sponsors and speakers deserve their own 🥹💕

What an honor it was to be a panelist for Grace & Grit today. 💛

Sharing my journey of growth, healing, and the power of the pause alongside four incredible women was such a meaningful experience.

A huge thank you to @graceandgrit_ for trusting me with this opportunity and for creating a space where women feel seen, encouraged, and empowered.

If you missed it this year, make plans for Grace & Grit 2027. This is an event every woman needs to experience.

We had an amazing time this past weekend celebrating Women’s History Month at our annual “Talk to ’Em Sis” event. 💐

God was truly in the room, and it was a powerful moment for our young men to hear wisdom, truth, and encouragement from some phenomenal women in our community. Each of our panelists shared pieces of their journey and the lessons life is currently teaching them, and our scholars were better because of it.

We are grateful for the women who continue to pour into the next generation of leaders. 🙏🏾
