AMA DABLAM

in a few weeks form now I will be heading back to nepal to guide another climb on one of the most beautiful and iconic mountains in the Solu Khumbu region - better known as the Everest valley.
This trip and expedition is more than just climbing an amazing peak. It’s training for an Mount Everest project but more importantly it’s a part of something bigger and much more meaningful

My client has a story to tell. He has a purpose with this climb and project. Something I support and value. 🙏🏻
We will tell you guys all about it when we get started.
First we climb a small 6000m peak - Island Peak before we put our minds up for the “real deal” Ama Dablam

Do follow our journey with daily updates directly from the mountains 🏔️

NEPAL IS CALLING

Sone it’s time for another season and expedition in the beautiful mountains of nepal.
We are heading to the Solu Khumbu - better known as The Everest valley.

Even though my heart is bleeding 💔 because of the devastating floods and the massive consequences it has caused….the best way to help the Nepali people and a nation on its knees…is actually to go there. Show up and be present. Nepal doesn’t need us to be sorry…they don’t need us to post more pictures….they need us to step up and help were it’s really making an impact. I believe we need to put more effort and focus on the climate changes. More focus on how to prevent something like this happening over and over again in Nepal and other countries like Nepal. With better communication, logistics, education and awareness. Then we have a chance to avoid similar situations in the future 🙏🏻

For me this area is like a second home and I’m always looking forward to see seeing old friends and “family “ along the way up and into the mountains

This season is separated into two different parts/exp. Both are parts of developing skills and experience for the next very big projects ⛰️

Step 1) Lobuche East ( 6050m ) ⛰️
Step 2) Island Peak ( 6189m) + my all time favourite Ama Dablam ( 6812m)

It all starts in October ⚡️

Stunning drone footage of Ben Lomond from the summit of Beinn Narnain that I captured a few weeks ago. I don’t get to fly my drones much in the Munro’s, often it’s too windy or wet. So flying it and capturing shots like these is a really treat. Hoping to capture many more adventures this summer in the mountains 🏔️

Rannoch Moor across to Meall á Bhùiridh & Stob Ghabhar

Over the past 10 month I’ve driven this road countless times, and always been in awe when passing. But I’ve never stopped because it’s a busy road and it’s hard to stop and go back to the point you wanted to take a photo at because there aren’t many lay-bys. It was rather quiet one early afternoon on the drive to climb Buachaille Etive Beag, the light was especially strong, I couldn’t not stop when I had time, the composition I had seen was amazing, and I needed a wee.

Such a beautiful, vast and remote landscape. It’s so reflective of what Glencoe really is. Every time I drive this road I love hear from mum the stories about the Raid on the Rannoch, and the Jacobite Camerons Clan being defeated.

Glencoe’s Finest 🌅

Wow, these two munros on Buachaille Etive Beag were perfect. Weekend trip away to Glencoe last November. The aim was to start later in the day and catch some winter golden hour and Alpenglow. This is the reason I enjoy hiking in winter more than summer, you just don’t see sunsets like this in summer.

Aonach Beag & Aonach Mòr Via Steall Waterfall 🍁🏔️

Amazing Autumn oranges and yellows. Sad not to see the view from the summits, but and the grand scheme of what was to come over the next two days I didn’t matter. The first of 3 days hill walking from Glen Nevis. What’s coming next is a treat, some of the best photos I’ve ever taken, and the best views I’ve ever seen in Scotland. It’s taken me a while to edit the two days after the Aonach’s, only because I took like 5000 photos a day.

Munros 156 & 157 for me 🏔️

These photos sum up my day, you can see the thick, dense cloud layer. Above 600 meters, it’s was hot and sweaty and humid, then it turned cold windy and rainy fast on the summits, made for a horrible day. And it wasn’t a short day, 4 munros in the thick mist. Nae much fun. Took these shots coming down, I liked the reflection on the river, that’s what caught my eye. But I couldn’t quite capture it at zoom and how I wanted, but I these are some fine atmospheric shots. Got back to the car, absolutely saturated. Horrible feeling when you know you have to sleep in a car after a wet walk. Walked the next day, 2 munros in the Ben Lawers Range, they were horrible as well. Took a lot of will power to get out of the car. Then it took about half an hour to be able to see out of the window, wet clothes after sleeping in the car for the night, built up a fair amount of condensation.

Munros 109-113 for me 🏔️

Special start to Christmas Eve. Beautiful day out in the hills, 2 munros Near Victoria Bridge, Glencoe. Munros 173 & 174 for me. The more munros and hill walking I do in Autumn/winter the more I realise it’s so much better for photography. You just don’t get light light this on long summer days, unless you get up at the crack of dawn. Many more great shots to come soon.

Unreal day out in the hills last July ☀️

All of the grim weather recently has had me in the mood to look at my pictures from summer. One of the hottest days of the year, absolutely brutal ascent in the heat, I was completely saturated in sweat. But it was totally worth it, when close to the summit plateau after a long up. This unexpected view came out of nowhere. Unexpected because I’m good at not doing my research on the Munro’s I climb. But this view is one of the best I’ve ever seen in Scotland. Across to Glencoe, the pointy Buachaille Etive Mòr and Buachaille Etive Beag on the right. The iconic A82, in the middle of that classic u shaped valley. And the Aonach Eagach in the middle of the frame.

When I’m out in the hills, even in summer. We never stop for lunch. But on this day we took a long sit down to enjoy this view.

I was rather excited to edit these photos, but as a photographer, these photos are the definition of a disappointment. When you’re out in the field, and come back thinking you’ve got something great. Then you go to edit, and it’s just crud. The first photo is spliced into a pano, so it’s format is slightly squished to make it fit the format of the other photos. Sadly, Scotland is not that pointy in real life. The third photo is the true representation of the landscapes optics.

Comment if you want to know which Munro this is. Or comment if you know which Munro this is.
