a TRUE STORY and an invitation for you…

The Story 🤍🤍
A few months ago, our daughter Claire sent me a link to an jewelry seller, asking for input on a vintage charm necklace… in the process of considering that with her, I came across a listing for a WWII era “sweetheart bracelet,” which I’d not heard of before.

One of the best parts of what I do in antiques/vintage is learn more about history and people, and the side-study on these special pieces has been captivating.

I came to understand that during the war years, sweetheart bracelets were treasured tokens of love, devotion, and remembrance. Often given by servicemen to their wives, sweethearts, mothers, or sisters, these delicate keepsakes offered a tangible connection during times spent apart.

Many of these bracelets featured expandable gold-filled bands adorned with engraved hearts, initials, or sentimental messages. They became symbols of affection, hope, and the promise of reunion.

To me, these special bracelets are more than vintage jewelry. They are small pieces of history, each carrying the story of love and service. Worn today, I believe they can be a reminder of similar ties that bind… the love between sweethearts, family, friends… and the timeless truth that, no matter the era, we belong to each other.

The invitation 🤍🤍
For the past few months I’ve enjoyed a collecting sweetheart bracelets in an effort to share them with you. This Veterans Day, November 11th, I am pleased to offer a pop-in collection of WWII era sweetheart bracelets at The Mustard Seed, from 10am-6pm.

In addition to bracelet shopping, I invite anyone who has a photo or small memento representing your own loved ones from this era to bring it along. I would dearly love to hear about your people and your story.

Looking forward to seeing you November 11th,
Rebecca

It’s always fun to come up with new and creative ways to decorate the Booth. This year I took my inspiration from Tortoise and Hare Vint. I’ve always loved their plate wreath. I did my take on it, with tobacco leaf plates. I’ll be adding a little more Christmas each week and always updating with Chinoiserie. Come see what’s new at Benbrook Antique Mall. 🩷💚💙 #rosemedallion #deerridgevintage #antiquebooth #tobaccoleaf #christmas

I believe the most beautiful homes aren't filled with expensive trends—they're layered with treasures, memories, vintage finds, and pieces that tell a story.

Antique shops are full of inspiration that can help you create a home with warmth, character, rich color, and timeless charm.

I took these photos at one of my favorite antique stores, The Mustard Seed, in Chattanooga. I enjoy looking around at the displays because they give me ideas for decorating my house.

✨ Which treasure would you bring home?
