Life has been absolutely CRAZY so I treated myself to a type design evening. This silly thing is the first font I drew in the Arkive. Of course it’s a super weird one. Of course it was inspired by a d20. Oh my God I’m so happy. I’m getting everything I wanted and more I moved alone to the flat I’ve been wanting for 9y the day after my 32th birthday last week. I’m happier, on all aspects, than I’ve ever been. I’m entering the best era of my life. Stars are aligning in configurations I could never have imagined. I’m changing a lot, too. For the better. Including getting lyrics of my favourite song of all time, In My Head by Lauren Sanderson, tattooed in Dargon. Idk what to make of myself tbh I just have to work I’m just grateful af #type #typedesign #graphicdesign #typography #dice

Ten looks translate past relationships into visual narratives, unfolding through costume, text and installation.

@totallyscribes, working as an independent calligrapher, his work focuses on creating handwritten compositions and ornamental patterns rooted in historical references such as engraved writing manuals and medieval Bibles.

His approach to calligraphic movement extends to diverse techniques, including glass engraving, tattooing, and typeface design in order to adapt an ancient art form to contemporary needs.

“The ink fixes the movement of the hand, writing a gestural story on the paper. But the pen is really what enables this process; it is my favorite tool and the object that has defined my practice the most. It is also a symbol for all calligraphers: ‘Vive la plume’ was a famous device among 17th-century calligraphers, and today I simply hope that more and more people will take an interest in calligraphy to keep the act of writing alive.”

Following Hopeless to Love You, I committed to organizing an exhibition for the Fondation Carrefour des Arts. I didn’t have much time. I was already working more or less around letters: we had wanted to include breakup letters in Hopeless to Love You, but it was beyond my budget. This exhibition became an opportunity to extend that exploration through another project.

Rooted in my own story, I started asking myself: why do we keep letters?

I grounded my research in the notion of the fetish object as explored by Massimo Fusillo, and invited seventeen artists to collaborate with us around this question.

Because, for me, an exhibition should be a whole, not just artworks on walls. We wrote and produced a publication explaining why we chose each artist, sharing our personal stories and reflections, with scanned fragments of our archives and the artists’ creations.

This is exactly why I wanted to work in art projects in the first place: because it is, ultimately, a question of connection.

From research to building a corpus of works, from securing funding to production, shipping, installation, curating, and publishing…what is important to me is doing things together. As a collective, it means carrying every step, supporting one another, and keeping the focus where it belongs: on the artists.

Putting egos aside and carrying projects collectively is essential. Too often, art is treated as a stage for visibility, without fully acknowledging the many hands, minds, and forms of care that make a work and an exhibition possible.

For me, art is a shared process: we question ourselves, and we exchange. You can lead a project but only through hard work and discipline, by listening, by practicing kindness, and by staying humble.

And whether @hysteriecollectivebxl lasts or not in the end, I don’t really care. The essential thing is that I vibed with my friends, and met new amazing people along the way.
