The Town of Wappinger located within Dutchess County in New York's beautiful Hudson Valley. First settled in 1659 and incorporated in 1875.

As a nursing home, staff members realized they were caring for several elderly village residents who had actually attended high school in that exact same building as teenagers during the 1920s and 1930s. Local workers frequently noted how surreal it was to treat patients in rooms that used to be their own algebra or history classrooms decades prior.

I’d like to take a moment to celebrate a friend who has always put the good of his community first. Joey has stepped into a role of leadership not to elevate himself, but to lift up the people around him. He works tirelessly for this community—but to him, it’s never just been a job. It’s much more than that. If you ask me, I’d call it a calling. That’s the kind of energy, effort, and heart Joey has put into the Town of Wappingers for as long as I’ve known him. Public service isn’t something he decided to get into one day—it’s been part of who he is since he was a kid. It’s election time, and I hope we all get out and show Joey just how much we appreciate everything he has done—and continues to do—for our community.

Last week I had the honor of checking out the ribbon cutting of Carnwath Farms and The Chapel, which is now open for booking weddings + events. I have loved this property with its rolling hills, panoramic views, and the historic buildings on the property. I spent much of Covid walking, jogging, and exploring these grounds. There is a magic to this historic property and I was super pumped to see what they have done. “The Chapel is a newly restored historic event venue right here at Carnwath Farms, with space for  up to 200 guests indoors plus incredible outdoor ceremony locations with 180 degree Hudson Valley and Hudson River views. The Town partnered with Simply Gourmet as the exclusive caterer, so couples get both this unique historic property and a full-service event experience.
